Hello Q&A. I did some client and account maintenance today, and went at it without thinking it through. I need you experience with the BOINC backend to determine if I made a big or a little Oops. Here is what I did, in sequence. Sequence is important 'cuz if I messed up this is where I did it. - - Way earlier - - a. Sign up on BOINC, in 2005, with address@Provider.A. b. Accrete credits, crunching SAH. c. Move house, get new ISP and nre e-mail address. d. Continue crunching SAH as before. - - Today - - 1. Decide do participate in two other projects, sign up to both with address@Provider.B, through BOINC clients already running SAH. 2. Logon to SAH website, modify account parameters to change e-mail address from adress@provider.A to address@provider.B. 3. Have an "oh sh-" moment. I fear I might have created a new identity when I signed up with address@provider.B. So I'm thinking work on the two new projects might get credited to newMe instead of Me. If that is the case I guess detach and reattach everything ? Or maybe changing the e-mail on the SAH account was enough and everything will fall in place once the next xml's go out ? mambo |

I fear I might have created a new identity when I signed up with address@provider.B. So I'm thinking work on the two new projects might get credited to newMe instead of Me. If that is the case I guess detach and reattach everything ? No new identity, as you can see to the left of your message: same join date and all credits are still there. You might suffer from "split CPID" (you got a new one by changing email address) on the statistics sites for some time, but that's all. Or maybe changing the e-mail on the SAH account was enough and everything will fall in place once the next xml's go out ? That's it. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben.
