Does anyone know if this is possible? I tried adding it on the line where the service starts (editing the registery). That didn't work.

Thanks
Tom

Try this:

Go to Control Panel | Admin Tools | Services

Right-Click the BOINC service and select Properties.

Stop the service

Edit the Start parameters in the text box at the bottom of the window and add whatever you need.

Start the service.

Not guaranteed, but safer than editing the registry!

Click run, type services.msc, hit enter ... same thing as going thru control panel but a bit faster :)

This doesn't work either. It seems to ignore it.

That's because the service stuff is still in development. But you don't need that switch, it's only for debugging.

I've tried both ways of doing this and neither works :(
It would be very helpful if the development team got this side of the program working, as a lot of us run Boinc as a service.
and Vodo........it IS needed :)

It's been said before in this thread but bears repeating. There is no reason to use the -return results immediately switch. The client will return work automatically based on your connect every x days setting.

and as I've said before in this thread, and I'll repeat.....
it IS needed/wanted.
its a switch that available in the cli version and therefor should be available in the service.
The way I want my clients to act, and the way I had my "classic" clients setup best suits me. I want the cache to remain full until there is the enevetable server outage.

The switch has nothing to do with the buffer. You only increase the server load, because you contact the server twice as needed. Just think about that when the project servers are down again.
