hello I have an Asrock 330 computer with nvidia ion graphics and 256 mb graphics memory (stated in nvidia control panel). Unfortunately boinc tells me it is unable to use my gpu for computing because I don't have 256 dedicated mb of graphics memory. What is wrong ? Thanks Fred |

Most video cards can "borrow" from system memory when needed. Many system information programs from the manufacturer will include this when displaying "total memory". In fact, BOINC needs 256MB of dedicated video memory, not including any shared system memory. To find out how much dedicated video memory you have, I'd recommend running GPU-Z. Also note that the CUDA app needs 250MB of memory free, of which if you have 256MB, your screen resolution may be taking up 15MB itself, leaving not enough free for the application to start. You may have to lower your resolution and turn off graphic effects to free up enough video RAM to run CUDA. |

Additional information, Seti requires that there is at least 254MB of RAM detected. Your ION shows 253MB. |

I was able to get the CUDA version of SETI@Home running on my Zotac ION bassed system by setting the video RAM in the BIOS to 512 (the default is 256). You might want to poke around as I'm sure you probably have the same option. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5252538 |
