I just barely downloaded seti@home and am completely new to it. When my screen saver pops up, it just says no running tasks. Did I set everything up right? Do I need to do anything else? |

Hi Ana, welcome to SETI. Your computer is showing in your list it just hasn't got any workunits yet. I think SETI is having a little problem getting Work units out right now. It should clear up soon. Your computer should be fine. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

You might want to add another BOINC project to the mix on your client. Having 3 or 4 projects that regularly supply work is a way of making certain that your CPUs stay busy. There are some projects that rarely have work and others that have a resaonably steady supply. BOINC WIKI |

Can we assume you've downloaded the boinc manager? If so, install it. You seem to have created an account for seti already. So your next task would be to attach your Boinc manager to the seti@home project. In the "simple view" all you need to do to attach is click on the "add project" tab. this will go through a process much like installing a program. It will ask for the URL of the project for seti its: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu you already have an account so you'd attach using the email address you used to setup your current account. BOINC will then download a master file and all the files necessary to run seti. Once that is done you should receive a WU to process. When you finish you'll receive more work. If you are using the advanced BOINC manager you'll need to click on "tool" then "attach to project" from their the installation is the same as the simple mode. If you are using the advanced BOINC manager you'll need to click on "tool" then "attach to project" from their the installation is the same as the simple mode. BOINC always starts up in Simple View on a clean install, while the Attach To wizard will automatically pop up if no projects have been attached to. |
