I just signed. Perhaps this will raise awareness of SETI@home and Arecibo. Or perhaps not...

Signed, sealed, and delivered. Not sure whether my signature will do any good, not being a US citizen, but I'm in. Let's hope we can do something...

Come on guys and gals. Even if you can't afford to donate financially, this is another way of showing support. It just takes a few minutes of your time.

regards, Gizbar.

Signed the petition. But so far only 26 signatories and more than half are not from the US.

Does it make sense for somebody who is not US citizen to sign it, I mean does it count for them?

I honestly don't know, but the more people who sign it, the more impact it should have on the US Government when they see the depth of feeling there, on people who have the vote in the US, and on people outside the US who have a big interest in space science...

Sign it, it can't do any harm.

regards, Gizbar.

I would sign a petition, but I don't want to sign up for the service included with the signature, and according to the terms of service, there is no way to opt out.

What service is that? I don't think you have to sign up for anything if you sign.

Under the -
I agree to Care2's terms of service. We respect your privacy. Your email address is used to confirm your signature and is NOT displayed publicly.

there is a link to the "terms of service" which says:

This is to notify you that by using Care2 services and thereby agreeing to the Care2 Terms of Service, you agree to the following:
...
By using our services, registering for an account, sending a Care2 e-card, posting a message, signing a petition (including those on Care2's thePetitionSite.com), downloading software from Care2 or otherwise interacting with our Service, you are indicating your agreement to be bound by all of the terms and conditions of the CTS.
...
You also understand and agree that the service may include certain communications from Care2, such as service announcements and administrative messages, and that these communications are considered part of Care2 membership and you will not be able to opt out of receiving them.

(bold emphasis mine)

Because of the above, I did not want to sign...

The only emails that may be received are either those which you opted in for or they are related to the petition. You only receive other emails if you become a member.
If they do start to send other emails most email accounts have a method of blocking senders.

IMHO; Back in the day it was called a “kill file” in your email account. You can opt out in your own way.

Everyone needs to do what is best for them…
