Vista Ultimate 32 SP2, BoincManager 6.10.18

Have been running this version of boinc for a while without problems, until windows update installing KB973688, KB976470,KB9776098 and KB973687. First time it exited windows completely (not even BSOD) after I clicked on the boincmgr/statistics tab. The computer restarted with option menu, selected normal restart.
After restart all seemed OK.

Similar event happened today, but now boincmgr does not reconnect to client anymore. Did a reinstall/repair of boinc which did not help.

Downloaded version 6.6.38 and installed. On start got the following error message: "Internal Error 2753. boincmgr.exe". Reinstalled 6.10.18 which did not solve the problem. Still "reconnecting to client".

Any suggestions other than complete uninstall and then reinstall? (don't want to lose all that work which was pending to upload)

You can uninstall those updates one by one, to see which one is the culprit.
You can check if your firewall didn't reset itself (has happened before) and that boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe are still in your trusted list. (Or if you do not use Windows firewall, that it didn't turn itself on again).

Look, usually when something breaks software that ran OK before, you uninstall the latest things that you or the OS installed to see if that fixes things.

(The Error 2753 is a benign one. That one comes up once, on you trying to auto-start BM. It happens if the old BM isn't unregistered correctly. trying to start it automatically will do that, then when you go Start->Programs->BOINC->BOINC Manager it'll start up normally).

Thanks for suggestions Ageless. Tried all but unfortunately non has helped so far.

Uninstalled all KB's, one at time and tested boinc. No succes. Then installed newest NVIDIA driver incl CUDA3.0 support (195.62), checked windows firewall (is off), deleted boinc completely, deleted boinc entries in norton firewall/program control, reinstalled boinc (6.10.18). Nothing seems to work.

I see boincmgr.exe in taskmanger and see boinc.exe appear and then dissappear again....

Maybe you have some more suggestions?

deleted boinc completely

How completely?

This completely? :-)

(You may want to make a backup of your BOINC Data directory if you actually have work of some project, before attempting this. Some people fixed it by really completely deleting everything)

Update: Got the advice to install 6.10.19 and that solved it!

Addition: completely as in just a regular windows uninstall!
