Hey everybody!

Can we PLEASE keep this thread logical and not personal and full of ill feeling

These guys do their damndest to help us help them, give 'em a break...

on to other thigs:- before the big crash my Pentium 4 (2 core) was processing two units at once with the GP processing another ----- now it only processing one - also one unit remains in the download state even after a re-boot.

anyone else having the same prob? I don't know if this will help but at least it will be documented and may help with the teams efforts to resolve issues in the future.

Yeah... most of us seem to be having a problem with WU's hanging in the download queue now. After 5 to 8 reboots of BOINC I can sometimes get it to download 40 to 60 of those in the queue before it hangs again. And sometimes even that doesn't work. But I do have enough WU's now to get me through Monday.

I DONATE money to SETI@home.... DO YOU?

I'm just slowly BOINC'ing along.

Hey... ET... you have a sister who likes earthlings?

Actually, most of the people posting about having problems are having problems.

The rest of us are either not worrying about it, or not seeing problems at all.

Try executing "inconfig /flushdns", stopping and restarting BOINC. You might have to do it a few times, but it should work.

Why did you pick me, and not point out that FrostKing9's statement that "most of us are having trouble" is a personal view -- unless I'm mistaken and he's polled most people running SETI@Home.

If we're talking about troubleshooting an issue, the fact that users who aren't having trouble usually don't complain is important.

Is this post of yours technical in nature?

Because of some special comments.. I don't answer..
This are the TNews.

Maybe..
Someone have the mobile number of Matt for to say him: "Hello, there is a prob." ?
I guess - .. ähmm.. *give me some seconds* .. no.
So, where or how we could say him: "Hello, there is a prob." ?

Oops.... forgive me. What I meant to say was..... "..... many of us seem to be having a problem with WU's hanging in the download queue now."

Sheesh.....

It wasn't meant as criticism, and I apologize if you took offense.

We tend to think of those posting here as if they represent the entire user base, and in reality, we're a very small fraction.

It's been about a year since I asked, but at the time I was told that roughly 8,800 SETI@Home participants have posted at least once. BOINCSTATS says there are a million people who have crunched, or are crunching.

So, as "canaries in the coal mine" we're quite useful, but it's hard to draw conclusions about the SETI@Home experience from so few who post, especially when that sample is self-selected.

Only if you POST your number on the board so we can call you every day randomly at 4:00am your time and tell you everything is running fine..........

Give them a break. It's a holiday weekend. It's THEIR science and the world ain't gonna ened if it doesn't get fixed till monday.

I got my pending downloads to work by using the aforementioned ipconfig /flushdns and restarting all processes connected to BOINC, then telling the downloads to retry again.

Thanks Sutaru,

That sorted my prob, my p4 is now doing two units again and my gp is doing another (whenever I'm not typing - lol)

Most useful thing I have read tonight.

Strange tho' - my other pc is an AMD Sempron - it has sailed through this crisis without even blinking, continuing to process and download new work units as if nothing had happened...?

I am a returning user to SETI. Was in before 2004 then stopped. Can't imagine why. Anyway. I had some of the same download/upload issues as everyone else. I shut down and rebooted BIONIC Manager and everything was fine. I am running Vista on an AMD Dual Core Processor. Hope this helps. Seems like there is a lot of stressed folks out there. Take some deep breaths. I am sure there is enough data for years to come.

I run S@H, WCG and Malaria Control. This morning BOINC had no active tasks, but was attempting to download 17 S@H tasks but had got stuck. I reset WCG and Malaria to try to get BOINC to run some tasks, but to no avail so I reset S@H and BOINC is now running tasks.

So that means the 17 S@H jobs which were stuck have now been abandoned, apologies to wingmen !

It is if you randomize the time zone (ducking).
