Do you happen to know the size of the science database?

From Writing, post by Matt Lebofski, gives us a clue:

However, we're still working on getting the corruption out of the science database. Every step takes a long time (days), as we're playing a large shell game with a database table that is reaching 100GB in size. That doesn't sound like much in some regards, but this is all being done on a row-by-row basis, plus we have to ensure data integrity at each step, etc. It's slow.

That the Informix database table is already 100GB could give you an estimate on how big the actual database itself is. Another post by Matt from November 2007 teaches you that at that time the database was already around 1 terabyte.

This machine will be continually analyzing and randomly scanning a database about 1TB in size, which will require some computing heft to say the least. Jeff is working on this program - a writeup of current progress is coming soon.

Time for you and the project to use some newer optical disks then... anything out there already that can hold 1TB of stuff burned, reliably? ;-)
