Hi,

after installing 6.10.17 on 10.5.8, I get this message when I try to open the BOINC manager :

"BOINC MANAGER You currently are not authorized to manage the client. Please contact your administrator to add you to the 'boinc_master' group."

The problem is that I am logged in as ADMIN !!!
It's the only account set up on that computer (iMac G5 1.9GHz).

I've restarted, repaired permissions.
Any ideas ?

THANKS !

Pierre

You might be admin, but you are obviously not member of the boinc_master group.
And nothing else does the message say. Weren't you asked during installation of 6.10.17 if you want to add users to that group?

Gruß,
Gundolf

Thanks Jahn,

I did say yes to adding users to the group.

Does anybody know how to manually add the admin user to 'boinc_user'?

Did you reboot after the install?

Does a repair install solve the problem? (Don't know if it's called that on a Mac, though :-)

Rebooting will in 99% of the cases make sure that the accounts are recognized.
On some systems, waiting a few minutes between installing BOINC and starting to run it will also cause the accounts to be recognized. Why this is, is something the developer is trying to figure out now. A fix for this all will hopefully come with 6.10.19 (unknown when it comes).
