I know that I have asked this question before should I upgrade to 6.10.17 as I am running 6.3.36. Had a message yesterday which stated that I should upgrade to 6.6.38 which made me wonder what is going on. Do not have a Cuda as everything is running fine shall I leave it as it is?

If you are not running CUDA or ATI cards, I wouldn't bother. If you are running ATI or CUDA cards, 6.10.17 works great for me...

Depends on what you want to do.

I think there is value in testing BOINC.

If you don't want to deal with it, and you're on a reasonably recent version, and you aren't having trouble, there is no need to upgrade.
