Message 946898 - Posted: 13 Nov 2009, 9:03:42 UTC - in response to Message 946897.

Hello Uli, Mark, Mike! Nearing 20:00 here.

Hiya Luke........
How's that new cruncher build doing?

Racking up the finances (eek!), should start ordering components in early December... Case first, PSU second, Mobo/RAM/CPU third... etc.

Total cost is hovering at just over NZ$3300.00

Dunno the conversion from NZ to US.........

NZ$3300.00 = US$2426.00.
It's been as close as NZ$1 = US$1, and as far as NZ$2 = US$1.

That should be an awesome cruncher indeed......if you have any more questions than what you have posed to me via PM and email, let me know, and I will tell you what I can.
Although the Kittyman has fallen a bit behind the times, due to monetary constraints.

I spent too many years on the 'bleeding edge' of the technology.......

Thanks. I'll look forward to getting this thing running.

You may no longer believe you have bleeding edge, but you certainly have leading edge. Doesn't get much better than i7 965 and a GTX295.

LOL....on ice.

But my 920 rig on air cooling with the Ultra 120 is keeping awfully close.

The Frozen Nehi currently has a RAC of 35,812...
The 920 on air currently has a RAC of 34,398...

Both have the same GTX295 OC'd at almost the same settings.

So, it's more dependent on the Cuda than the CPU at this point.

We call it 'P' over here. LOL.
Ah, so the incarnation of the Frozen Penny still runs. What was the RAC of your best i7 before you added CUDA?

Dang, I can't remember........
And the Boincstats charts seem to only go back 30 days.
But it has been a formidable increase.

Point being.......you don't have to have a Frozen Nehi these days to do well.

The Cuda card picks up the slack.

I have been kinda toying around with adding a Cuda card to my first Core 2 duo.....which still runs like heck to this day.......just to see what it could do.

Mark, Luke, Carlos and John.. + everyone else; Hei!
After over a week with wonderful weather, today the
cold wind is blowing - and the sun has left for another
place to shine on..
Anyway - I take my win. ;-)

Currently XE.com says NZ$3300.00 = US$2,447.59

As to cpus Luke/Mark, I have a QX6700 B1(ES) cpu that on air does 3.52GHz 24/7 and yes I do have a GTX295(I don't overclock video cards as I've not seen any benefits), I just need a good case with air filters and water cooling(Corsair H50), But an Antec 902 is months away(May) and the H50(Jan). But then I have car parts for the a/c and other things to do and that takes time, too much I think as I'm trying to get stuff fixed, upgraded and such, And It seems to require a huge effort and that's hard to do.

I hear Governor "Tarkin" Schwarzenegger wants to cut the budget again and His favorite target? People who have either a limited ability to fight back or those who can't fight back. Thankfully He can't cut too much anymore and Hopefully Congress will pass H.R. 3557.

Oh and Good Morning all!

Good morning - very excited!!! Going to visit my beautiful god-daughters tonight. Am busy packing goodie-bags for them and for their roommates. Going to get a yummy dinner into those two starving college students. Danielle is a senior in microbiology and Aziza is a graduate student in organic chemistry. I am so proud of both of them!

Morning Mark, Angela and all!

It looks hazy here and still no change(home for sale), I'm just waiting for a call or two...

At least I repaired a TV, a PC and a 1qt Pan(new lid, double boiler and screws) this month.

And just how does this relate to the current flow of the thread????

Ya know, Joker.........

I gotta say........sometimes you get way off track with your diatribes.......

And, at the same time, I must admit that I do too, at times.

Guess we all must forgive and forget at times, eh?

We don't mind off topic so long as it is positive stuff. We all know life sucks and we need a place where we can come and get away from the worries.

Looks like partly sun today. Just enough rain to need to wash the car again. Good mojo. In and out of the dentist in less than 15 minutes.

Sorry I offended You Gary, I do My best to survive, My car is still dirty and could use a new paint job and other work, But then I have a backlog of stuff to get done and that will take time as I don't charge stuff, If It rains here It won't clean the car up unless It's moving through a heavy down pour. But hey Its an off topic thread and some aren't so lucky, But then again I've never gone bankrupt either, a lot of people in this country(I don't know about those here, So their excluded) do spend beyond their means, My family doesn't, We make do and improve or fix something when We can, Sure It's not cool, But I have a clear conscience at least.
