It is a new thread. Normal rules. The random number generator has been consulted and the sticky is in ink. It is more the normal length, not a short one.
Now have at it, but remember, all the normal posting rules apply, and this is the Cafe not the Politics section. So weather, critters, food, and greetings and small talk are fine, but kvetching isn't, we don't need to hear how unfair the world is.
Oh, sorry for the delay in starting it, I was watching an episode of the National Parks on PBS!
And thanks for the win, it was unexpected.

@ Gary: Congrats on Yer win Gary.
Ah yes, Well at least You weren't building a bridge over the river Kwai in the middle of the Jungle. :D
Me I was busy working on a PC and I have pics too.
I got the used 850w Corsair psu into the HP case, But I did discover a snag, The previous owner neglected to say that one of the leads for the pci-e cables has a bare yellow(12v) wire showing through the insulation and that the sleeving in that area got ripped up some, I'm going to have to look for some electrical tape to cover that wire with(I'll secure the tape w/a few zip ties). Otherwise the psu fits and works.
No tape, sigh, So the repairs are delayed until December 1st as I lack the money for the tape. I might have an alternative though, As I might be able to use some shrink wrap tubing, If I can find a piece that will fit around the end of the 6 pin pci-e cable connector and that isn't too big to shrink to fit, Its that or electrical tape & some zip ties as being the psu was abused by the previous owner It has no warranty now. In any case the psu is installed and everything that was hooked up to the old 300w psu is now back in the case and hooked up to the 850w psu, Since I have a GTX295 waiting to go into another pc case that is awaiting some money for filters(Jan 2010 so far), I may see If It'll fit, It might or It might not as It can't hurt, I'm lucky the psu wasn't longer than 160mm as the case could have been 25mm longer.
Well the GTX295 fits in this case with the HP MS-7184 motherboard, Not bad at all, Next fix that 12v wire. Not exactly stock anymore is It? :)

Thanks Luke.
And that 850w psu will handle It with ease. And the GTX295 may be the biggest card to fit in that case as the Radeon HD 5970 is supposed to be 13.5" long(maybe production ones will be shorter), While the GTX295 is only 10.4" long or 3.1" longer than the HP m7470n case has room for.

The HD5970 is stupidly big. What AMD/ATi has done is created a design which actually hinders sales. They are limiting themselves because of the size of the card.
It's supposed to get smaller, and then bigger! We haven't reached the end of Moore's Law yet have we?

I read being a prototype the HD5970 @ 13.5" may not make production at that length and that production models may be shorter, I did some research on the HD 4870 X2 and found It's only about 10.5" long, So the 4870 X2 and the 3870 X2 will fit. So who knows yet? Moore Law, Hmm, Nope not from what I've read.

That's a more realistic size for a GPU. Me however, I'll stick with buying a GTX260.
We've still got a few fabrication processes to go through before we reach "the end" (Nehalem 45nm, Westmere 32nm, Sandy Bridge 32nm, Ivy Bridge 22nm, Haswell 22nm - all the way through to 11nm, and then we are at nanoeletrics!)

Well the GTX260 is ok, Me I just want to get the most out of a card as I can.
Moores Law really was meant for cpus, As to gpus, We'll have to wait and see, 11nm cpus, Sounds wickedly fast, They might have to change materials or someone will discover another process to go smaller still, So again, Who knows?

You can apply a derivative of Moore's Law to nearly every major component (in a sense) Size of HDD's, for example.
I think 32nm is the start of double patterning. And this is where the beginning of quantum tunneling starts...
