Good morning: I am installing BOINC with protected application box checked and the allow all users to control box unchecked. Still, when a user logs on, the BOINC icon remains in the system tray. BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Options->uncheck Run manager at login? You have to do this only once. ID: 945418 · |

User account. But else remove the key entry for boincmgr from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run PS: Don't remove boinctray! This is the idle detection program, it has nothing to do with showing the icon, despite its rather confusing name! ID: 945420 · |

unchecking run manager at login did NOT work for the user account. Do I remove the key entry logged in as Admin or the user? Also does it make a difference that in this case the user also has local administrative rights on this machine? thanks! stephen stephen grayman massachusetts USA ID: 945421 · |

I've removed the key entry and it appears to have removed the icon from the system tray. But seti does not start for the user. However I am working on a test machine where I MAY not have installed BOINC as a service. Is there a way to modify the install without removing and reinstalling? I do remain curious why using the program options to accomplish the same thing do not work. Thanks. stephen stephen grayman massachusetts USA ID: 945424 · |
