I recently switched from my old, rickety, and nearly-falling-apart desktop box to a much faster and newer laptop. SETI@home works perfectly on the laptop but, after finishing and uploading God knows how many work units, the credits on this computer is still 0.0. Is there some sort of validation issue or something? And does it have anything to do with the fact that I forgot to detach the old computer from SETI@home before its hard-drive got thoroughly cleaned up and reformatted (i.e. the project is still preferentially sending the other copy of the work unit to my old computer, which is no longer online and no longer running BOINC)?

The new computer seems to return errors, because "Maximum daily WU quota per CPU" has dropped to 88/day. I can't tell more because currently the feature to view your tasks is switched off.

Gruß,
Gundolf

You seem to be using an obsolete version of Boinc V4.45. I would suggest uninstalling it downloading the newer Boinc version from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php.

Hmm. Old version. That's a strong possibility, considering that my BOINC installation file is several years old. I'll try uninstalling the old and installing the new version as soon as the current batch of WUs is finished.

Since you're only returning errors, it's better to switch immediately. That way you have a chance of returning work correctly, and not be impaired by a lower daily quota, or giving your wingmen (other computers doing the same task) the problem that they have to wait even longer for the work to be returned.

All right. The solution of upgrading to the new version of BOINC seems to work quite well, since my new computer has begun to accumulate credits. Thanks to everyone who suggested it.
