How many tasks do you have in your Tasks tab (advanced view)?

What does the Status column in Projects tab read?

Gruß,
Gundolf

Then it's probably a "No new tasks" issue. That's why I asked the second question.

There are three tasks in the tasks tab. 2 rosetta and 1 climate prediction.

There is nothing listed in the status column of the projects tab.

That would seem to rule out NNT. Just to be sure, when you select (highlight) SETI@home in the Projects tab, the third button on the left should say “No new tasks”, not “Allow new tasks”.

The next issue I’d look for is Long Term Debt. What are the resource shares for the three (or more) projects running on that host? Had any recent S@h tasks been running at “high priority”? Better, could you check your projects’ debt situation in the client_state.xml file? (Details on where to look on request, if you haven’t poked around in there before.)

Since according to the account you're posting with you aren't attached to Rosetta or ClimatePredction.net, I will assume you have two accounts.

So check your account at Rosetta or CPDN and see if it shows Seti as a second or third project. Seeing the amount of "Phoenix" accounts on those two project (or here, for that matter) with no guarantee that you used the same name on the other account(s), that'll be a fun thing to figure out.

Odysseus,
Correct, it says "no new tasks". Resource shares looks like this:

100(33.33%)
100(33.33%)
100(33.33%)

I don't know what to look for in client_state.

Ageless,
As far as I know I only have the one account.

When was the last time you had Seti work, remember that?
Are you still using a "AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-51 Processor [x86 Family 15 Model 5 Stepping 8] (1 processors)" ?

It's all to well possible your Cross-Project IDentifier split (due to whatever, cosmic rays included). Are you on a team? Is the URL on this account the only one you use?

According to BOINCStats you only crunch Seti. Is that CPID the same one you have on the other projects? What if you go to the Rosetta project, your account there, then follow one of the links to the statistics? Where do you end up at?

No team. The cross project identifier is different on rosetta than seti. Still using the same computer.

Are you using the same email address for all three projects (including upper/lower case)? If not, that would explain the split CPID.

To get the debt info from the client_state.xml file, open it with notepad and search for "debt" (without the quotes). You should find twelve occurences (four for each project). You can post the result here, but probably it will show that BOINC has used so much time for SETI that now the other projects are up.

Gruß,
Gundolf

For questions concerning BOINC’s work-fetching decisions, only the long_term_debt entries matter: short_term_debt applies to tasks that have already been downloaded.

So if seti has been working ok and then for no apparent reason it stops and show "won't get new tasks" what should one do about this to get it working again. Or do i have to uninstall it again and then not reinstall it.
Ever since seti changed to BOINC it has been buggy all the time.

This time, it seems to be a user error ;-)

Try clicking the "Allow new tasks" button in the Projects tab (after highlighting the SETI project).

It is likely to be either that SETI has used more than its allocation of CPU time and other projects are downloading work, OR some other project (CPDN?) is in deadline trouble with a task already downloaded. The only cures for this are time, as in just let it crunch.

The way to check for this is to get the time_stats section from the client_state.xml file, and the long_term_debt for each project also from the client_state.xml file. You will also need the CPU time left to completion and the wall time left to the deadline for each task (associate with projects please).

The other possibility is a mis-configuration of BOINC on your part (the buttons show what the state WILL BE after you push the button). If it says resume, that means it is currently suspended, and if it says allow new tasks, that means that no tasks will be downloaded at the moment.

One of the first few messages after a restart of BOINC states where the BOINC Data directory is. By default, one of the directories in the path is hidden (thank you very much Microsoft).
