Come on now.........this is just stats gathering, using the tools available to us all.......

Just gotta know what the rigs are doing.

A few folks running this once or twice a day should not bust anything, if they are working right to begin with.

I got a very definitive, no go on this one. Even a violation, a reason to ban the account.

Whatever......I shall email Eric for clarification.
It's his project......if he says no go to me,......that is that.

I really thought this was just innocent stats gathering. Not like it is running constantly like a bot.

I am sure that the Seti servers are hounded by much more than this.

Let me know because I pulled the plug on my own application that did something similar.

I shall, my friend.

I am sure that too many apps like this would be a bad thing.

But, as I said earlier......a few folks, running their stats once or twice a day can't possibly bring the project to it's knees.

But....I shall await Eric's response.

His game, his rules.

I don't remember who it was but someone was running a script that pulled the stats of all his team members. Not once but hourly. I can see where that activity had to be stopped.

An individual running this script with some common sense, such as once a day and only your own account should not be a problem. It does provide valuable data on the performance of each host.

Oh yeah........I can see where an automated tool, running mindlessly, could disrupt things.

That is not my wish nor intent.

I just wanna know what my rigs are doing from time to time.

Geez, I didn't really think this would become such an issue.

Seemed so innocent to me........but I guess, because I am a simple fool, that's how I view things.

I already had a very nice working program, ideal for tracking down problems.
But as you noticed, some pages where down from time to time to limit resources and bandwidth.

Eric reports that the AndyK tool is kinda hard on the servers.......

So he wishes that we would not use it.

Thanks for the memories.................

I will respect Eric's wishes.

I certainly don't want to be that guy who totaly crashed the Seti data base as it seems to be a bit fragil.

It's not that......and Eric knows it.

He just really wants to curtail the use of programs that query the server constantly.

So, I said I would not.

His wish is my command.

Obedient to his wish, I have deleted my bookmarked links. Sigh.

I have removed it from my server then.

I put up a new page with the quoted info.

Sad thing.

Maybe there is a way to get the info that doesn't whack the servers?

How about incorporating it?

Where:
Total credit = Pending credit (claimed) + validated credit (granted)
same goes to RAC

adjusted would be the validated credits.

This way we could see the actual numbers (or close to actual numbers). Then no one would care about pendings as they could see it. Just like when you deposit a cheque to your bank, you would see your balance right away - pending cheque validation.

Also we could see SAH's actual computing power and combine that with other BOINC projects, FAH's number could be overtaken. :)
