Message 939797 - Posted: 14 Oct 2009, 11:43:14 UTC

hi, my seti at home got it's first astopulse workunit.
In order to start this work unit i seem to need the file in the ttle.
However, it fails to download giving the following error: 14/10/2009 11:57:42 SETI@home Backing off 1 hr 50 min 28 sec on download of astropulse_5.05_windows_intelx86.exe

This has been going on for 36 hrs.
I have tried to dowload manualy from http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/
but this times out too.
Any ideas how to work around this? 200 hours of work depend on it
Hope to hear from you soon

You can copy the file from some other machine.

You can install one of the optimized applications (look for the lunatics unified installer). Note that this is not for everyone as you have to install new versions by hand as they come out.

You can wait until the pipes unclog.

You can attach to a second (or third or fourth or ...) BOINC project to keep your CPUs busy while you wait for the executable to finish downloading.

Just copy it into the BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu directory. That's beneath the BOINC data directory, as mentioned in the Messages tab after a restart of the BOINC client.

Gruß,
Gundolf
PS: You should copy it, not move, since BOINC will delete it again if it doesn't agree with the file signature.
