Over the weekend the main Seti database server crashed, the whole project went down as a result of that. Any downtime on the project's side will inevitably be followed by a long recovery time as all the PCs out there will try to upload their finished results, report them and download new work.

All the uploading and downloading happens over a 100Mbit line from the University's gate to the SSL lab. Too many uploads/downloads happening and this line is saturated (as shown in this real-time graph) and clients on the outside will get a message that there isn't work available, even though there is plenty to be had.

Ways around it?
- use patience. You're not the only computer asking for work.
- attach to another project if you want to keep your CPUs warm.

There is plenty of more science that can be done through BOINC than searching for ET only.

I looks like Jem got some work. I see 4 WU's sent from 24 Oct 2009 11:26:36 UTC and 12:09:35 UTC. Boinc may have been in work request backoff delay from asking for work while project was down or out of work.
