I just noticed that the line for "Pending Credit > View" in the Account Preferences display (which was just after "SETI@home classic CPU time" is now missing from that display. Is this intentional, or a problem caused by the just-over outage? |

Looking at tasks under each computer I get a "This feature is turned off temporarily" Probably to conserve traffic for uploads and downloads. |

As this is normally done from the Replica Database which is offline until Maintenace tomorrow (then a bit of catch up). Don't worry about "pendings"... They will eitehr have credit or still be pending... Regards Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Ha Ha reactivation of Pending Credit is still pending:) When we finally figure it all out, all the rules will change and we can start all over again. |

According to the Tech News, there is a problem with one of the datbases that is preventing the Replica from coming back up. The resolution may have to wait until next Tuesday Maintenance. BTW......Is it normal to have hundreds of completed tasks pending credit? According to Vyper, no, hundreds is not normal. Normal for him is ~ 4,000 pendings ;-) In terms of gross generalizations, over the long haul, and everything else being equal and smooth, my pendings hover around (( 3 times RAC )/80) , but day to day that can be highly variable on the mix, assuming RAC is matured to 30 days, and assuming the avg splittering of WU's is about 80 credits per WU (which was the estimate I got after crunching my fist 2000 WU's). |

BTW......Is it normal to have hundreds of completed tasks pending credit? Yes, is the simple answer, The average amount depends on your computers cache setting in comparison to the 'result turnround time'. If your cache were to be equal to the 'result turnround time' then on average, half of your tasks will go into the pending tray. If you do mainly MB work this means that your pendings total will probably be about 3 +/- 1 * RAC. |

BTW......Is it normal to have hundreds of completed tasks pending credit? My pending credit generally runs about 40,000-50,000 credits. Most of the tasks are 85 or 100 some odd credits. So that comes to 400-500 pending tasks. Which seems to be pretty normal. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

how can one know what thier pending credit is to begin with? Finding out is not being allowed anymore! It's only turned off temporarily until the database troubles get sorted.... Matt said he 'might' turn it back on today. If not, we might have to wait until after next Tuesday's outage...but it will be back. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

how can one know what thier pending credit is to begin with? Finding out is not being allowed anymore! I think that they should keep the link there and have it open a message that says "This function relies on the replica database server. Which is currently offline. Please check the Technical News postings for more information." SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

My last Pending Credit was around 275,000, before the weekend crash. No idea what it may be now but that doesn't matter. All credits will be awarded as and when wingpersons cach up. Even if there is more downtime. Dave |

how can one know what thier pending credit is to begin with? Finding out is not being allowed anymore! I think it should be possible for a link to disappear and not have people assume that is "disallowed" instead of temporarily down for technical reasons. |

how can one know what thier pending credit is to begin with? Finding out is not being allowed anymore! I would too. Except whenever it does occur ther are always a few new thread about it, when it occured the week before and 5 other people asked the same question. how can one know what thier pending credit is to begin with? Finding out is not being allowed anymore! I suspect that the BOINC design didn't anticipate a need to turn features on and off temporarily -- the feature is off because the replica fell behind and is being recovered (as we speak). Adding the ability to substitute a message for a feature would be a BOINC enhancement. |
