INFORMATION REGARDING USER-SPECIFIC REQUESTS TO HIDE/LOCK/UNLOCK POSTS OR THREADS

Users occassionally request hiding/locking/unlocking of their own posts or threads for differing reasons. Due to our process of having documentation of these requests, any user-specific requests to delete/hide posts or threads must come via the Red-x option on each post. Please be aware that hide/delete requests sent to Mods via email or via PM's will not be honored.

Updating an earlier Moderator Note

When your post is acted on by a moderator (deleted, undeleted, moved, locked, etc) you will get an email to the address registered with Seti. The email will include the name and the user number of the moderator. The same email will get sent to the setimods mailing list (setimods at ssl dot berkeley dot edu).

Please keep an active email address updated on our system.

If you disagree with the moderation, please write to the setimods mailing list. Do not argue with the moderator in the forum, or post the identity of the moderator. This will not be tolerated.

Do not repost deleted messages without correcting them to remove the offending portions. Reposting deleted messages can result in banishment. If the moderators agree the message should be undeleted, it will be undeleted. If not it will stay deleted.

If you include significant portions (or all) of a deleted post in your reply, it will probably be deleted.

Please be aware that discussion of moderations or bans are not allowed in the forums.

Update on Moderation:

Recent concerns have arisen that made us decide to remind users about some general rules.

Posting the real name of a user or any other personal information that the
user has not already posted on this forum is not allowed. Exceptions in the
case of incapacitation will be considered.

Posting confidential IDs such as Social Security Numbers is grounds for
immediate and permanent banishment.

Normally this is an announcement Thread. Today Richard stated there were issues withe Seti Server Side code that caused issues with moderation. One of those issues was the Seti Users did not always recieve email notifications about moderation. This thread is NOT the Discussion area for moderation issues. There is a Thread in the Political Forum for discussion without details. The proper way to address issues with moderators is through discussion via email to the moderator group. If that fails send email to Seti Forums Administrator.

I would like to Thank everyone for their patience today.

Note: One of the hidden threads/Messages question who was Richard? Richard is an ex-moderator, he is a volunteer tester, an Alpha Lunatics tester and member of Boinc Alpha and Boinc Developers. Generally it Richards states something is wrong it is true, as he probably already has spoken on "your behalf" in places that you do not see. Without his and others efforts and many posted stating they were also aware that changes were in the mill.
