Could the forum code be wrangled around so that the original thread post was sticky and demarcated?

(example)
Threads -
Subj: How do I merge my accounts...
Subj: Hello - I'm new here...

(expanded thread - responses)
Subj: Hello - I'm new here - not sure where to start
-------(sticky demarcation--------
Subj: Hello - I'm new here
Hi, I'm new here and not sure where to get started or how to do xyz etc, or what this means, or that means

^ might help to help prevent the following:

>>> several posts later

Well, that's not really necessary, because xyz...

Just a suggestion, may/may not have been already tried and/or be practical... thx!

Not sure what you mean, as it isn't too clear what you wrote.

But, in http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/edit_forum_preferences_form.php you can set to either not reorder sticky posts (by selecting the option), or leave sticky posts at the top of the forums (by not selecting the option).

It's under the "How to sort" section.

Sort order is fine but defaults to newest posts first - sorry for the sad example, but basically propose that the original post (for all forums, all topics) be isolated (demarcated, enclosed in a table cell, highlighted?) and "stuck" at the top of all replies, regardless of sort order.

It's ok as it is, and I suppose that most folks who would engage in the forums vs just attach to project are savvy enough to filter their way through whichever way they wish - was just thinking of ways to (possibly) make interaction more user friendly from the start. What I suggested may or may not accomplish that.

Thx!
