?????

I would have expected under Advanced>Preferences... (advanced view) or under Preferences to the right of Messages (simple view) :-)

It's only detecting 2 CPUs.
When you bring up Task Manager, does it show 4 CPUs?

Gundolf: it's from the local prefs

Grant: jep, it's show 4 CPU.

I have had this problem before, at that time, i changed my "on multiprocessor systems, use...... % of of the processors" to 50% saved the change, quit the application, then start up again, change the settings back to 100% and then i hade all 4 processors.
But this one does not work now......

What about some other numbers for a change, like 25% or 75%? :-)

No <ncpus> in cc_config.xml?

Gundolf

Can you post the actual contents of your global_prefs_override.xml file?
Have you tried to do Advanced->Preferences->Clear, before setting the preferences again?
Are you sure the local preferences are used? What are the settings for the web-preferences?

Is there a reason why you must use the WCG version of BOINC? Compared to where we are at these days, (6.6.38 for release, 6.10.9 for development) it is quite old and it doesn't even show your OS correctly. "Microsoft: x64 Editon"?
if you think you cannot do WCG work without a WCG version of BOINC, then I can tell you that's not true. You can do any project with any version of BOINC (Be it the WCG, GridRepublic or Berkeley version of BOINC).

I'm not sure what i did.......

went to my online prefs, it sayd 2 processors, made that to 4. saved the prefs.
Updated my project, nohting changed

Restartet mig client, nothing changed

Reboot, nothing changed

rechecked my onlige prefs, and now it sayed 4 processors, but i was still running 2 task.

Then i went to advance option and "read config file" and "read local prefs file" and................ weeeeeeee now i run tasks whith all 4 processors

mayby er did some more, cant remember, but it is working now.

No Jord, there is no reason for that. I'm not an expert in these client's, and went to "http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org" where i knew i could find the client. can you suggest another and better for me?

And thanks for all the replyes

I'm not sure what i did.......

Whatever it was, it wasn't setting the numerical amount of processors from 2 to 4, as that preference is only used by BOINC 5.10 and below.

BOINC 6 uses the "percentage of processors" preference.

But nice to know it works. Grant gave you the link to the BOINC download page, so there's nothing left for me to do. ;-)

The last time I used SAH version of BOINC it did not allow me to run it as a service. The WCG version in its advanced options allows it to be run as a service. Using the SAH version it does not run if I am not logged on.

The third screen in the BOINC Installer, will have the Advanced button.

When you clicked that, you get to:

The option "Protected application execution" is the service installation. It's been there all along in all BOINC 6 installers.
