I have several 2x dual core opteron servers and noticed they were running an old boinc (6.4.5) and old apps (seti 5.28), so i upgraded boinc on one machine to the boinc_6.10.6_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu. before upgrading i had my server finish all the wu it had and then i reset the project still keeping wont get new tasks flagged. i then quit boinc, deleted everything not needed to 'start fresh' after a project has been joined, and it *still* insisted in getting 5.28 instead of 6.03! anything i need to do or is this normal behavior for this type arch? my intel quad gets 6.03 by default just fine.

The only difference between SETI v5.28 and v6.03 is that 603 had the graphics moved into a separate application so as to be compatible with BOINC v6.x series (which in turn was required to be compatible with Vista/7).

According to this page, v5.28 is the latest for your OS.

heh ok... and here i thought 5.28 was ancient..ok thanks... not gonna worry about it then. odd tho that my intel quad machine automatically got 6.03.. considering they all are running the same linux version os. one of those mysteries of computers..

thanks!

As best as I can see, your Core2 Quad is using an optimized application which uses an app_info.xml file to specify what stock-level application it's compatible with. You probably have 6.03 referenced in your app_info.xml file for the Core2 Quad but only 5.28 referenced for your other machine (if it's using optimized apps).

yeah im actually using the AK opt pkg for the quad but its the only machine with an app_info file, all the others download as needed. i forgot about having the opt app on this machine :) although in looking over a few of the opterons, one of them has downloaded the 6.03 app along with 5.28 but is presently using 5.28 so i guess it has a use for it somewhere. no biggie...
