Hello, how do I limit the BOINC downloaded data to a set amount.
I dont want to exceed our internet account download limits.

First, I don't think the amount of data you will need to process SETI will be much of an issue unless you have a very restricted internet account. The work units are very small and take a great deal of processing. If you were using something that supported cuda it might be a different matter. On the other hand, if your computer is only on a few hours a day, that will limit you to a few work units a day. If you are connected 24 hours a day, you computer is on 24 hours a day and you have a very limited internet account, I have two ideas.
First, you could limit the number of processors you use for BOINC.
Second, you can limited the precentage of processor power BOINC uses. This setting tends to keep Laptops from melting down, but it has other usages.
Someone else may post another idea, so you may want to check back latter.

thanks, it is just that I was looking at the "working set size" within "tasks".
It tells me the working set sizes are approx. 46MB. There are four of them.
I can get through about 8 of these a day, so is that 46MB x 8 that is being downloaded each day ?

It really depends on which project(s) you're talking about. Each project's workunits are of varying sizes, and each uploaded result is as well.

For SETI@Home MultiBeam, each workunit is approximately 354KiB and each result is roughly 32-64KiB. For SETI@Home AstroPulse, each workunit is approximately 8MiB to download and somewhere around 64KiB for the result file.

Then of course there's the download of the science app that only happens whenever a new app is released by a project. This is true for all projects, and each science app is also of varying size.

As you can see, it can be quite difficult to arrive at a determinate number. Most ISPs are putting limits on accounts, but I have yet to see anyone who participates in distributed computing go beyond these limits. Unless your limit is exceptionally low, or you do a lot of other downloading, I do not think you need to worry about it.

Since there is no official AP app for Mac OS X, you will only be downloading Multibeam work so it will be 2.5 megs or so a day.
