In response to post by Richard Haselgrove in previous thread. All the work I got this morning came from a Sept and a Dec tape and they dont show at all on the splitter but I am sure someone will be able to inform me on the reason...my guess is an offline tape from storage? Yesterday evening at app. 20:30 (UTC) server status page was showing many more 'tapes'... now they don't, so something happened (of course); |

Not looking real good........ Only one MB 'tape' available to split into WUs........ Matt said we might run out of work this weekend. If they do not have more 'tapes' to load into the servers, he may be right. Thank the kitty gods of the high held cache. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Not looking real good........ Well, regardless of what they have right on hand at Berkeley now, I sure hope they got the new Data Recorder fully settled in down at Arecibo. Otherwise, we could be missing out on a pretty good size chunk of prime ALFA observation time. A drift study with RFI requirements which dovetail nicely to get 'clean' SAH data. They haven't posted the schedule for the last quarter yet, so who knows when we might get the next big window of opportunity for prime fresh data. <edit> Oh boy... don't like the way the weekend is shaping up already! ;-) It looks like BOINCstats has augered in from where I'm sitting, and the VPN tunnel just collapsed to my remote sites so I lost contact with half my fleet. :-( Alinator |

Pardon my ignorance/noobishness but how the hell did you cache 3000 WU's?! |

Pardon my ignorance/noobishness but how the hell did you cache 3000 WU's?! Set your preferences to a 10 day cache, and have a computer that can do the work on time. CPU and/or GPU.... If you have the hardware, and the servers/splitters are up to capacity, so shall your cache be. Boinc is your friend. I have many 1000's of WUs cached across 8 rigs........and have never turned one in late, except in case of hardware failure.......in which case they are all turned back into the wild upon expired due date. And just in time, too........ Server status shows the last MB splitting will finish soon. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I just turned off my old P4 for a well earned rest. have maybe a days work on the i7, my Mac loaded up with a full cache, where some how the others didnt. Im thinking maybe running with a 0.25 day cache isnt going to cut it with an i7. I would run milkyway on the i7 but 6.6.36 dosent like milkyway because it wont complete in time. maybe the next release can cure that. [/quote] Old James |

something odd. I've noticed that my quad core is dropping rac fast. I checked my WU's against whats been returned and noticed that I've not been receiving any credits for the last week. The machine is turning in around 50-70 WU's a day so my credits should be substantial. I also noticed that a new PC that I hooked up doesnt show any work being sent even though it has an AP wu onboard. I can only assume there is something happening at the server level the WU's that I'm currently crunching have return dates that are around the end of sept. my list of WU's on the site start around OCt 10th In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. My credits/pendings are increasing but the results have not been updated in the tasks listings. |

Yer I'm noticing the same thing WinterKnight, I'm uploading from my cuda enabled Q6600 and the web based task list is not updating with WU sent after 14:00 GMT yesterday - I do seem to have credit for them though. |

The server status site is our friend.. ;-) [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html] Someone know, how long we will not get new work? When all servers will work again 'normal'? |

It appears that the server saw a detach reattach when I didn't do one. My computer has been happily plugging away on work that the server thinks was detached from this PC. sadly I was forced to manually find how far back the detach went on board then abort all the bad work In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. The Replica database is off-line, the list of tasks in your account is taken from there. Hmmmm... I don't think so, for 2 reasons; 1.) In the Server List on the left, Jocelyn is shown as running as the replica DB server, even though it shows the replica is offline in the DB engine status. 2.) At least for my hosts, their summary pages are up to date as of around 1000 hours EST today (9/5). This implies that either the situation is nominal and the DB engine part of the server status page hasn't been updated to reflect that Jocelyn is now the replica, or the server list part is broken and everything is going through Mork. The latter possibility would be good news actually, since that would indicate that Mork is indeed a beast when it comes to his capabilities! ;-) Alinator |

The Replica database is off-line, the list of tasks in your account is taken from there. The last task showing as reported for my computer was at 20:47 UTC on the 4th, yesterday. Since then I have have completed and reported three more AP tasks, my credits have increased by ~800cr but none of the three show as reported in the tasks list and the, I presume, pending tasks has not been added to the pendings list. |
