I've been working on a Facebook application which when signed up for will make a wall post for any of the BOINC milestones you pass. This is not just Seti specific but for any of the projects for your CPID

If anyone is interested and has a facebook page, then please feel free to try it out here

Milestones are all based on the ones I generated at Free-DC stats and these can be updated to add new ones on request easily enough, though I think they are fairly comprehensive.

I have 28 people using it so far and in the past 2 weeks or so it's been working well.

In the next few days we hope to get the initial page fixed up somewhat but it's fairly simple to follow I think as is.
Basically, you accept the application (standard facebook) then follow the instructions on the page itself, by entering your CPID and then going to the link to allow the app permission to post to your stream - if you've done it all correctly you'll actually see your recent milestones on that page
anyway.

From then on, any day that you pass a milestone in Seti or any BOINC project for that CPID it will post it to your wall, also for combined milestones too.

I'm 90% through coding of posting your team milestones as well, though may make that optional.

It has been fairly interesting writing this app and I see many future possibilities for it also, though many of them will require the co-operation of the various BOINC projects and possible extensions added into the BOINC framework code..

For instance, posting when you get the lowest energy in a Rosetta molecule, or when you reach a new badge level in World Community Grid..

How does this one differ from the one by mundayweb?

There's not very much info on the facebook app page.

Neil's (Mundayweb) puts your current stats onto your profile (I think). I did not want to duplicate the work he had done so I tried something different.

This one will write a post on your wall for you whenever you pass a milestone in any BOINC project.

I'm working on putting more explanation in the initial page, especially for non BOINC users as I'd like to try to attract others to BOINC and recognize it's not very friendly. But the main part was actually the server side application which reads from my database and creates the facebook wallposts.

If you sign up for it I can 'fake' a milestone and you'll see what it looks like on your wall.

You are definitely trying your Cross Project ID ?

(I see it in my database as 652347881aa59d4dbfefa59835db6896)

I just tried it and it worked ok, so please try again..

p.s. 131 users of the app now, it's certainly grown overnight!

Dude!! With a response like that you must be under 25! ;)

I know what facebook is.....been there done that, built apps to see peoples info, etc. before changes started being made a few months ago.

I admit I did not read the initial posting all that clearly and skipped over the 'wall posting' and figured this was just another app that posted your project stats like the mundayweb one does.
