hello, I just signed up today and I was wondering what happens when the time remaining reaches zero? It just reached zero and started counting down a new time but how do I know anything happened? where are my credits? pending credits? Also, what is the point of getting on a team? thanks |

hello,Welcome to SETI. When you complete a WU (Work Unit) the results get uploaded and you start work on the next WU. Completed work is marked as waiting to report. Boinc tries to report completed work in batches as this is more efficient and causes less load on the server database. There are several things that can trigger a report of completed work but most times it is done when more work is requested and at the latest 24 hrs after work is completed. You can look at your account 'tasks' and see the WU you received and those that are waiting to be validated. All work is sent to two computers and the result compared. If the result are within acceptable tolerance then credit is issued. The time it take to receive credit is dependent on which system you got paired with and how quickly they return their results. If the results don't match, another copy of the WU is sent out to a third computer to try to confirm the result. See Credit in the unofficial BOINC Wiki for more information. Teams are for comradeship. competition and support. If you join a team, it receives the same amount of credit as you earn while a member of that team. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |
