I've just built a new PC, seehttp://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5077431

for details. Motherboard is an ECSS GS7610 Ulltra with 1GB of ram.
This PC presents several problems.

First is that Seti only appears to see one of the two cores, despite running the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 9.04

Second how do I update the boinc client from 6.2.18 to the current offering (6.6.36), which I've been able to download, but it steadfastly refuses to update...

Third, and I guess this is more a motherboard issue than anything else is that the display is marred by striations - vertical bands of short horizontal strobing lines, three on the left and four on the right. This will probably be cured when the next phase of the build program takes place - a CUDA compatible GPU goes in, probably either a http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-Gainward-GTS-250-PCI-E-20-%28x16%29-2200MHz-GDDR3-GPU-745MHz-128-Cores-D-Sub-DL-DVI-I-HDMI or a http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-Asus-GTS-250-PCI-E-20-%28x16%29-Mem-256Bit-2200-MHz-GDDR3-GPU-738-MHz-HDTV-DVI-Retail - comments would be appreciated on these as I've never ventured into the realms of GPU before......

What are your preferences for
On multiprocessors, use at most XX % of the processors
Enforced by version 6.1+

Local preferences = 100% of cpus on multi processor systems.

One of the first things I tried was entering 200%, which was rejected back to 100%.

After much faffing about I've managed to update the BOINC client to the latest offering (6.6.36), no change in number of simultaeneuos tasks - still=1.

But it does look as things are happening a little faster.

The Seti version is 5.28, compared to Windows 6.03 - is this correct?
