Outage day, usual drill: shut everything down, back up the mysql databases, fire off a science database backup as well while we're at it, compress the mysql tables (which get fragmented over the course of a week), and start everything back up. As far that was concerned, everything went smoothly.

I also hope to get some version of the NTPCkr page online tomorrow (he says with little fanfare). Yipeee :) Cool, well done Matt, well done! Very exciting! We will try to go easy on you to give you time to get the bugs ironed out! John. ____________

Matt, What model is it? As far as hardware & software is concerned, a SSD is no different to a mechanical HDD- they both use the same interface. Any hardware/software that is SSD aware wouldn't allow the device to be defragmented, would provide support for SSD specific commands (eg Trim) and would disable caching for the device. But for all other instances a SSD/HDD are the same. ____________ Grant Darwin NT.

Not to complain, or anything, but the Science Status page hasn't had contact with Arecibo for weeks, and the "signals already found" just show blanks...

What model is it? Gigabyte UD3R-SLI I should also mention that the limitation of the SATA controller is stated for ACHI mode. I'm not sure if RAID mode has the same limitation. You would think: no problem running SDD, but I have not tried it.
