Angela

How about a group of raccoons lining up for a Muni bus in San Francisco

I hate it when you get a line up like this because the racoon in front doesn't have the correct change.

They should just read the number on the front of the bus like everyone else.

Tell the kids we get a group discount!

The boys in the hood ride the bus!

This picture is too cute!

The kids are a bunch of refugees from West Africa that have been relocated to the US. I drive the bus to take them to church and soccer practice, go to school for their parent teacher meetings and generally help them become fully functional US citizens.

Sometimes it's like herding cats.

But they will apperciate it someday.

It sure looks real.

I would guess that the bus driver stops there every night and feeds them. They learned where and when to show up for a free meal, just like your little beasties. :)

Certainly a plausible explanation. No doubt about it, raccoons learn easily when food is involved!

Don't we all? The easiest way to get our little family back together is to let them all know what Mom is making for dinner on sunday night.

It is our slow season here in Raccoonland.

Old Threesie has passed on.

Occasionally Interloper Mama and Tweedle Dee come around, but since IM is done nursing, she does not come by regularly for extra calories. We probably see her once every 7 to 10 days.

Mask and Wednesday are gone. I have no idea where those two little scamps have settled, but we haven't seen them in ages.

Cilantro we see maybe once every 3 or 4 weeks.

Surprisingly, we see Little Cat A almost every night. He is still super shy. He tolerates me tossing food to him from a window, but if I step outside he darts instantly under the deck and stays there until I go back in the house. I do not think I will ever manage to get close to him. He just does not have the temperament for interaction.

Raccoon feeding always slows down for us in the winter. I do not think raccoons technically hibernate, but their metabolism seems to slow some during our colder season and I think they keep to their dens more.

Summer is definitely the best time to befriend raccoons. I am already looking forward to next season's babies.

Too bad about Threesie, But they don't live long I guess. Oh and food is a great motivator I've heard, Hey Angel has Me trained. ;)

I watched a safety video today as a part of first aid training that unfortunately featured a raccoon and a person who stupidly got too close when the raccoon felt cornered (and paid for his stupidity by getting bitten).

No one ever accused some people of being to smart.

Isn't it amazing just how uncommon common sense is?
