I am an iMac G5 (PowerPC G5) using OS X 10.5.6 with BOINC 5.10.45. On 8 August I downloaded boinc_6.6.36_acOSX_universal from http://boinc.berkeley.edu.

I shut down the working, running version BOINC 5.10.45. I then unzipped and ran the resulting BOINC 6.6.36 installer.app but got only as far as the screen entitled "Install BOINC Manager Select a Destination". At that point only the on-screen button labeled "Go Back" was enabled. The button labeled "Continue" was not enabled so I could not continue with installation.

I knew I never should have tried to fix what ain't broke.

Did you try rebooting?

I have a installer problem with the same software version. I run OS X 10.5.8 on my Intel MacBook and Unarchiver can't even decompress the file although I've downloaded it twice. That decompresser has otherwise worked flawlessly and I certainly do not want to installn for example Stuffit. Is some kind of a new .zip comression used in this version?

Did some system maintenance and other zips open now fine, but still not this Boinc. Google search found this thread: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=2778 where people have had similar problems with error messages saying that some folder can't be created.

Any idea what to do?

I'd suggest running 6.2.18 BOINC - it's stable and has been for some time.
