Nice scenery today but lousy weather... "Siri, what's Italian for speed? Elia Viviani." No change in the GC today. Viviani's team Quickstep came up with this song:) "Purple rain, purple rain Purple rain, purple rain Purple rain, purple rain I only wanted to see you Winning in the purple rain" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvnYmWpD_T8 https://twitter.com/quickstepteam/status/999322134424977408 |

It ain't over till it's over. Two more mountain stages to come. General classification. 1 Simon Yates (GBr) Mitchelton-Scott 75:06:24Tomorrow will be a brutal day and many have dubbed it the queen stage. It includes the Colle delle Finestre before the finish at Bardonecchia. |

General classification after stage 19For now it's look that Froome will do the Giro d'onore a Roma. Dumoulin is however not so far behind. But still one mountain stage tomorrow... |

Dumoulin never attacked in this Giro. He was always in the first group and stayed there. Froome attacked on the Zoncolan and the Colle delle Finestre. Bravo! |

They started early because of the transfer to Rome. The bicyclists will fly, the mechanics will drive. I've seen my Cervino again after many years. Ciao,Cervino. |

"This year has been brutal," says Froome. Despite the great lead to Tom Dumoulin, he said not take anything for granted when he will do the Giro d'onore a Roma tomorrow. I think Froome shouldn't worry. Dumoulin is already happy with the second place. |

After Fabio Aru and Simon Yates also Thibaut Pinot was hit by the "homme au marteau" and lost his third place. The Giro has been brutal indeed, more than any Tour de France. |

Giro Too many holes in the streets of Rome. The stage ends after three turns and becomes a simple show with no timing. The racers menaced to stop and got the neutralization of the race. Froome wins also officially. 1 Sam Bennett Eire 3 wins 2 Elia Viviani 4 wins Now Giro is over! |

I thought many should be resting before Tour de France. No. Many riders choose between the Critérium du Dauphiné (June 3-10) and the Tour de Suisse (June 9-17) as a preparation. Well nobody said it should be easy to compete in cycling:) Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) gained a few seconds on his overall rivals at the Critérium du Dauphiné mountain finish to La Rosière to extended his overall lead to 1:29 on Adam Yates and 2:01 on Romain Bardet, with just one mountain stage remaining. Tomorrow Mont Blanc / Monte Bianco :) And yes. Adam Yates is the twin brother of Simon Yates that almost won the Giro! |

Wild forest fires in Sweden. Italian EU firefighting planes now active in fighting wood fires in Stockholm suburbs. Up and down with water. Impressive. Grazie Italia:) https://twitter.com/michael_sjolin/status/1007729079393669121 |

We call them Canadair. I saw them in Liguria, coming low to swoop water from the sea. |

Not being a soccer fan, I watch many Russia games. They are all pleasant with many surprises. The underdogs perform well in many occasions. Go Iceland with a 99% TV share! Tullio |

Brazil met Costa Rica today. The underdog Costa Rica managed to keep the 0-0 but not until the last 10 minutes of the game Brazil scored. Otherwise it would be very funny if Costa Rica and Iceland would be playing in the final:) |
