Saluti a tutti da un triestino che vive vicino a Milano da trent'anni, laureato in fisica teorica, e ha lavorato a Mondadori, Elsag, Alluminio Italia, SGS, Honeywell-Bull in Area di Ricerca a Padriciano e ora fa il nonno e si diverte con Linux.

Riccardo Cassin e' morto a cent'anni nella sua casa di Piani Resinelli, Lecco. Aveva scalato in prima salita la Nord Est del Badile (da lui ripetuta a 68 anni), la Nord della Cima Ovest di Lavaredo, la Nord della Punta Walker delle Grandes Jorasses, la Sud della Torre Trieste nelle Dolomiti, la Torre del Diavolo nei Cadini di Misurina e, all'estero, il McKinley in Alaska, Dopo essere stato estromesso per motivi politici dalla spedizione al K2 aveva guidato la spedizione al Gasherbrum 4 salito da Bonatti e Mauri. Viveva a Lecco ma era friulano di origine. Mandi, Riccardo

E' morta a 92 anni Fernanda Pivano, la famosa traduttrice di Hemingway e dei poeti americani della Beat Generation. Io ho letto le sue traduzioni di Hemingway, poi sono andato un anno a scuola in America e ho imparato l'inglese-americano anche nelle sue sfumature. Ho quindi riletto Hemingway nell'originale e ho visto che la traduzione della Pivano non era sempre corretta. Ma "de mortuis nihil nisi bene" e non mi dilunghero'. Ciao, Fernanda.

E' morto Mike Bongiorno a 85 anni, primo showman della televisione italiana con il suo "lascia o raddoppia", quindi fondatore della TV privata assieme a Silvio Berlusconi, recentemente passato a Sky di Murdoch. Nato a New York, e' stato partigiano in Italia e imprigionato a San Vittore. Liberato per uno scambio di prigionieri tra USA e Germania e tornato in America, ritornato in Italia nel dopoguerra come giornalista radio e TV. Ciao Mike, allegria (era il suo grido di battaglia). RIP.

Ho appena ascoltato su Radio 3 via Internet una intervista al prof.Riccardo Giacconi, Premio Nobel per la fisica nel 2002 e gia' direttore del telescopio spaziale Hubble. Quando il prof. Piergiorgio Odifreddi, dell'Universita' di Torino, gli ha chiesto come mai era andato a fare ricerca in America. Giacconi ha risposto che gli 8 Premi Nobel assegnati a ricercatori italiani erano tutti stati assegnati a italiani che lavoravano all'estero. Io purtroppo sono rimasto in Italia e non avro' mai un premio Nobel.

Lino Lacedelli e' morto a 84 anni nella sua casa di Cortina. Era uno dei conquistatori del K2 assieme ad Achille Compagnoni, morto a 94 anni lo scorso maggio. Io gli devo probabilmente la vita, in quanto nel 1959 mi ha prestato una corda per fare una discesa in corda doppia dalla Torre Inglese nelle 5 Torri di Averau, sopra Cortina. Avevamo una sola corda di 40 metri e la doppia era di 40 metri, impossibile da fare con una sola corda. Ciao Lino e grazie.

Yes but they don't post much.There are 47 active members in my team, DPRG Italy but I never met them on this forum. There is Bruno Moretti on the Science forum and he seems to be a good astronomer and mountain climber too.

Romano Corradi nació en Milán, y obtuvo su licenciatura y doctorado en Astrofísica en la Universidad de Pádova, Italia. Después de trabajar en el Observatorio Europeo Austral en Chile de 1991 a 1993, ha desarrollado toda su carrera científica en Tenerife y La Palma a partir de 1994. Actualmente es investigador titular del Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

Lucky fellow, he has the biggest optical telescope in Europe. The Italian Galileo National Observatory, also in La Palma, has a much smaller dish.

Dai giornali: l'Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica e la Regione Sardegna hanno finanziato la costruzione di un radiotelescopio di 64 metri di apertura. Purtroppo non ci sono i fondi per farlo funzionare. Ho suggerito di rivolgersi all'Aeronautica Militare per il suo funzionamento, come fa la US Air Force con l'Allen Telescope Array. Ma non credo avro' successo.
