Alex Zanardi, who lost the use of both legs in a Formula 1 accident, has won the first race of Italian Grand Tourism Championship on a BMW M6 GT3 car at Mugello track. He drives the car using only his arms.

Tomorrow the Ski World Cup will start at Soelden, Austria, with a women giant slalom followed by a men giant slalom on Sunday. But Tina Maze won't race, she has reserved her final race at Maribor, Slovenia, on January 7.

Without Tina Maze but with Mikaela Shiffrin.
Lindsey Vonn won't be in Sölden.
She will only do Down Hill and Super G this season.

Darn. I missed seeing it today on TV.
Anyway.
Great race in the first run and the chance of the podium - but then the sun went in the cloud and destroyed the sight of André Myhrer.
The Swede finished eleventh in Sölden after being fourth in the first run.
- Hard to race when you can not see, he said to TV4.

Yesterday Daniela Ceccarelli commented the women's race and today Max Blardone did the same for men. The season has just started and there will be time to race again in better conditions. I miss Tina Maze and her smile.

I miss Tina Maze and her smile.

I do to.
On the other hand there are still very good skiers on the tour that excel with a smile:)

It was followed two hours later by a 6.1 (about 8 times stronger) magnitude tremor in the same area. One person was hurt, but there were no immediate reports of deaths.
Tommaso Della Longa, a spokesman for the Italian branch of the Red Cross, told CNN that after the first shock, many people left their homes and were outside when the second earthquake hit about two hours later.

Italian papers speak of a second 5.9 shock and a third one of 4.6. The fault line is evidently active. One casualty has bee reported, the zone is rather sparsely inhabited in the Monti Sibillini area.

New quake near Norcia in Central Italy. Newspapers speak of a 6 magnitude shock, but the US Geological Survey mentions 4.3.
