Montpellier
1 Peter Sagan Slovakia
2 Chris Froome, who gains a few seconds plus a bonus.
Strong winds on Mont Ventoux, the climb mighty be shortened or cut off.

No changes in the GC really.
General classification after stage 11
1 Christopher Froome (GBr) Team Sky 52:34:37
2 Adam Yates (GBr) Orica-BikeExchange 0:00:28
3 Daniel Martin (Irl) Etixx - Quick-Step 0:00:31

Current weather forecast for Mont Ventoux suggest the wind could blow at close to 100km/h on Thursday, Bastille Day.
That's Beaufort 10 Whole gale.
I wonder if it would be headwind or tailwind...
Anyway.
Most likely the finish line would be moved seven kilometres down the road to the Chalet Reynard. The road is more protected at Chalet Reynard thanks to the forest area of the climb.

Poet Francesco Petrarca climbed Mount Ventoux on April 26 1336. Probably there was no longer snow and maybe no wind too.

Mont Ventoux
1 Thomas De Gendt Belgium
Chris Froome falls against a TV motorcycle with Richie Porte and Bauke Mollema on the final kilometer!
The public does not leave space to the motorcycles and riders. The result is a mess.

Strange that it was no fences a long the road the last 3 kms so the crowd cannot block riders like that.
Decision by the commissaires panel: Chris Froome and Richie Porte have been given the same time as Bauke Mollema due to the incident in the finale. Froome retains the yellow jersey.
CHRIS FROOME: "IT'S THE CORRECT DECISION"
“The Ventoux is full of surprises. In the last kilometer, a motorbike broke in front of us and made us crash. Another motorbike came from behind and broke my bike. That's how I became a walker. I knew the car with my spare bike was five minutes behind.

Provisional General Classification after stage 12:
1 Christopher Froome (GBr) Team Sky 57:11:33
2 Adam Yates (GBr) Orica-BikeExchange 0:00:47
3 Bauke Mollema (Ned) Trek-Segafredo 0:00:56
4 Nairo Quintana (Col) Movistar Team 0:01:01
5 Romain Bardet (Fra) AG2R La Mondiale 0:01:15
6 Alejandro Valverde (Spa) Movistar Team 0:01:39
7 Tejay Van Garderen (USA) BMC Racing Team 0:01:44
8 Fabio Aru (Ita) Astana Pro Team 0:01:54
9 Daniel Martin (Irl) Etixx - Quick-Step 0:01:56
10 Joaquim Rodriguez (Spa) Team Katusha 0:02:11

That was the right decision to take. But the Tour is becoming a circus, with too many motorcycles, too many riders, and undisciplined fans.

Minute of silence at Le Tour start this morning
Some words from Prudhomme this morning at the start village.
“The stage goes ahead, the Tour will continue in dignity. We will not give in to people who want to change our way of life."

One goes from a train tragedy in Southern Italy, on a stretch of rail with no automation, to a tragedy due to a terrorist in Nice. One is afraid of opening the TV screen. Mine is mostly used as a PC monitor.

1 Tom Dumoulin Nederlands wins the chronometer race
2 Chris Froome, who gains more time
No celebrations, somber ceremony.

There's was a minute's silence again on the podium as the jersey wearers and ASO paid their respect.

For some reason I believe that there will be no change in GC tomorrow either.
Froome is solid as a rock.
This stage through the Jura was a tough test for everyone but Froome can ride to Bern in Switzerland, knowing that none of his biggest rivals have the strength or courage to attack him.

The SKY team works like a Swiss clock. I have two, a Swatch for summer (50 euros) and a Tissot Touch for winter, with compass, thermometer, manometer and altimeter (500 euros).

That and a Swiss Army Knife and you are ready for a nice bike ride in the mountains:)

Berna
1 Peter Sagan Slovakia
2 Alexander Kristoff Norway
I think Garin was born in Aosta Valley, hence in Italy and later became French. He was the winner of the first Tour de France.

In GC no changes inside the top five.
Nice to see Norway again though.
I think it's Alexander's second second place in this tour.

Yes. Garin was born in Aosta Valley.
Here is his bicycle "La Française":)
