Yes, but the French copilots stalled the plane. An Alitalia captain says that there was no mayday. Why? There is uncertainty about any emergency call was made from the aircraft. At the press conference stated Germanwings that it had received conflicting information on this. They have no idea why the aircraft began to go down suddenly. The plane must have fallen in eight minutes before it crashed. The pilot was experienced on the aircraft model and has worked for Lufthansa for ten years. The plane was inspected by the company as late as Monday, said Germanwings at a press conference, according to La Provence. |

The Alitalia captain says that in an emergency the pilots must launch a radio call and insert a code in the transponder which automatically signals the airspeed, elevation and heading of the plane to the flight controllers, also to avoid collisions with other planes. |

The Alitalia captain says that in an emergency the pilots must launch a radio call and insert a code in the transponder which automatically signals the airspeed, elevation and heading of the plane to the flight controllers, also to avoid collisions with other planes. Shouldn't that call be launched automatically? It seem to have been a very dramatic descent. I know that sometimes you can drop altitude in "clear air" but that is normally for less than a minute. If it's a false alarm the pilot probably will let the tower know. Otherwise.... A resident in the Alps heard the plane crash into the massif of the Trois-Evêchés. There was a muffled noise. "As an engine exploded," says Emile Gall. http://www.ledauphine.com/ |

The descent rate was about 3000 feet/minute, which is quite normal, says the captain. |

But they hit the ground by 400 knots. Altitude & speed chart of 4U9525. Aircraft entered a steep but constant descent. https://twitter.com/AirlineFlyer/status/580326398620934144/photo/1 |

Looks like somebody was flying it. The pilots or somebody else? |

Looks like somebody was flying it. The pilots or somebody else? I dont so much of aviation crashes but to me it looks very bad. Loss of hydralics? Did they lost their wings? So far only speculations. I remember one crash where the tail fin didn't worked because of bad maintence. A big screw got stuck and the pilots lost control of the plane. |

In the case of any failure the pilots would have signaled a mayday. A DC 10 lost all three engines and was crash landed in an airport saving half of the passengers. A DC 9 had its engines shut down by rain and landed on a highway. A Tupolev 154 lost physically an engine taking off from Linate airport (I heard the thud from nearby Mondadori building) and the pilots made a turnaround landing. What strike me is the pilots' silence. Were they unconscious or killed? Tullio |

After the crash in France several of Germanwings and Lufthansa's pilots refuses to fly Airbus aircraft of the same model. Crews have retreated to discuss potential safety, says Der Spiegel. Pretty soon after the disaster, it emerged that the plane had experienced technical problems on Monday, when it stood at Düsseldorf airport for several hours because of problems with the nose wheel doors - doors that open up when the nose wheel must be folded out on landing. - But this problem was completely remedied so that the aircraft was back in regular service, said a spokesman for Lufthansa on Tuesday, according to Der Spiegel. |

Vernet. "There was nothing to do. Nothing" said Jean-Louis Bietrix to swedish DN. He is one of the mountain guides who were first on the scene of the disaster in the Alps yesterday. Jean-Louis Bietrix lower his eyes and becomes silent when he describes what he saw. - You really need to know that it was an accident scene to understand that it was just that. It looked more like ... a rubbish dump. There was no bit of the plane that was larger than this, he says, holding his hands with a half-meter distance. - It was obvious that there was no rescue, he says. The rock wall where the plane crashed according to him is steep, around 70 degrees! |

In Svezia pure. E francese. One pilot locked out of the cabin, no message sent. This looks like a repetition of the first Malaysia plane disappearance..Suicide? Tullio |

It is official. A French judge said that the copilot locked the door and left out the captain while piloting a suicidal descent The reasons are not known. Tullio |

It is official. A French judge said that the copilot locked the door and left out the captain while piloting a suicidal descent The reasons are not known. It's so sad. Right now I'm looking at the live press Conference. btw. it's French prosecutors not a judge that make this statement. Copilot Andreas Lubitz showed no signs of depression, according to an acquaintance. https://translate.google.se/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dn.se%2Fnyheter%2Fvarlden%2Fbekant-andrepiloten-visade-inga-tecken-pa-depression%2F&edit-text= In 2013, the United States Federal Aviation Administration FAA praised Andreas Lubitz. This after he distinguished himself during his safety training, "lead by example" said the FAA. |

It is totally stupid not to allow a captain to regain his place of command and control in any case, no matter who is in the cockpit. Most software attacks on banks and other institutions are committed by insiders, not by hackers. It is the same for airplanes. Tullio |

Yes. So I wonder why there are so many security checks on passengers today. Even FBI says it's unnecessary when Swedish Minister of Justice Tomas Bodström met the FBI chief. |

Many security measures are simply stupid, like the one forbidding carrying liquids aboard, which was laughed by all explosives experts. But to forbid a captain to reenter the cabin because there is a madman or a potential terrorist in it is not stupid. It is criminal. Tullio |
