Wow, what a difference!

My 8800 GTX is now crunching the longer WU's in about 17 minutes with the new 2.3 DLL's, this compares to about 28 minutes with the 2.2 versions.

GPU temps have only gone from 67C to 70C ( fan speed is unchanged at 85% )

Keep up the good work NVIDIA! Whatever you're feeding them is working!

Where are you getting the 2.3 drivers from, Im only seeing CUDA 2.2 on the NVidia website...

As for beef, I went to Alberta a couple of years back, had a Bumpers steak - haven't been able to eat steak back home since - best steak I have ever had, was better off not knowing what I was missing :-)

You can donwload the cuda 2.3 DLL's from the Lunatics website here

You'll need to make sure you have nvidia driver 190.38 (or higher) installed first, but make sure you finish all cuda work for all projects, uploaded and reported. The DLL's go into the projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder.

Apparently they have rewritten the FFT libraries which is why it is so much faster now.

Message 922890 - Posted: 1 Aug 2009, 4:48:55 UTC

I am running the 190.&& nVidia drivers and just updated the CUDA .dll's to the neww ones posted via the lunatics web site. Got some fresh CUDA work and on my GeForce 9400 GT (driver version 19038, compute capability 1.1, 1024MB, est. 10GFLOPS) vid card, it is scheduled to take 13 HOURS to finish a batch! Any suggestions, or help IS GREATLY appreciated.

That would mean your not using an app_info
Using an app_info.xml is required for these dll's

Yes, Task 1322764210 was reported 1 Aug 2009 11:22:17 UTC successfully completed with the stock CUDA application, and Task 1322764212 a few hours later. So you're no longer running optimised applications, and it also downloaded cudart.dll and cufft.dll from the project with some difficulties. The task list shows those difficulties too.

It might be possible to drop in the 2.3 CUDA DLLs now, usually BOINC only checks the size and signature of files when they're first downloaded. But you'll probably want to convert back to optimized apps anyhow, that will provide both the new DLLs and a usable app_info.xml.
