Message 921153 - Posted: 24 Jul 2009, 22:34:13 UTC - in response to Message 921047.

for your information:
the amount of time to display all data regarding the pending credit is MUCH BIGGER then the amount of time needed to count and display total pending credit.

and by the way..
if the current web page has capability to display all records regarding the pending credit, then logically it only need to add few rows of code, to calculate the total pending credit.

however, assuming the huge amount of users, that simultaneously viewing the result page, actually even adding few rows of code, will consume a lot of processing power.

It depends on what part of the system is being looked at. The HTML display itself is not the problem, but the stress on the database is. The work to determine which rows to include in the calculation is most of the work that the DB has to do, and the DB is one of the pieces of the system that is under the most stress.

well... I hope there will be one day, when I do not longer need to bring up a calculator to count my total pending credits.

1) Go to your account.

2) Click on "pending credit"

3) Read the number at the bottom of the page, to the left.

Somehow I was mis-reading the argument. Yes, if the Pending page has been enabled, it does have a total on it. I somehow thought it was about not having the total on the account page or the individual computer page anymore.

Behind most stated objections there is often some real objection that is almost, but not entirely, the same. The objection isn't the loss of the pending value, but the need for a calculator.

Oh.. there is a a short cut to view total pending credit.
I don't even realize it... hehe

because, I usually view my pending credit from boinc manager, where you can click on "YOUR RESULTS", and there is no total pending credit.

The link was disabled on the Account's page for a while, and just recently came back.

Someone should commend the seti staff. It has been quite some time since ScareCrow's graphs have looked so nice, almost predictable. Things must be working well in Berkeley.

(Kind of hope they didn't have to mess with the service event tomorrow!)
