I used to see a stat that showed what our pending credit was. It has disappeared. Why? Thanks in advance for the answer. Dennis A |

I used to see a stat that showed what our pending credit was. It has disappeared. Why? Thanks in advance for the answer. It's been temporarily disable to reduce load on the servers. As you may be aware there have been problems with uploads recently. As the admin's try to let things catch up, it is best to remove the extra load on the database by disabling some database searches. No idea when the features will be turned back on. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |

I uploaded a completed SETI work unit on Aug 30 and it is still "pending." Units posted after that date have already been validated. Is this normal, or should I accept that this unit was just lost in the system or some server breakdown? Thank you. CJN (old participant, 1999, finally getting back into it after a few years hiatus) |

[edit]Since the post has been moved, it's no longer off topic :-)[/edit]Why do you post under this thread? Your question is totally off topic. Nevertheless, there's (probably) nothing lost. Depending on the type of work unit, it can remain pending for over a month. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. I uploaded a completed SETI work unit on Aug 30 and it is still "pending." Units posted after that date have already been validated. Is this normal, or should I accept that this unit was just lost in the system or some server breakdown? Each Work Unit is sent to two computers. The first task is pending until the second returns the task and they validate against each other. If the results do not validate, or a task is not returned by the due date, another task is sent from the WU. Once a task is validated against its counterpart(s) it is granted credit. In the rare case where a third task is sent out, and two validate and the third does not, the third is not granted credit. BOINC WIKI |

I assume that you are talking about server-side functions, which have nothing to do with your BOINC client version. The pending-credits information (and several other) is taken from the replica database, which is currently offline (see the Server status page and Technical news). What's with personal statistics? I've got a lot of Timed Out Response tasks, although 100% sure that all WU were returned in time and even earlier. Also, I see 18 active WU in my BOINC client and 120+ on the website. After their deadline they will also turned to be invalid and no credit will be granted. Just forget about several days of computation? :( |

What is likely to have happened is that your computer asked for work from the project, and the project assigned work but the message got lost on the way to your computer. These are called Ghoset WUs. I had a pending credit awaiting validation for about ten days then suddenly it disappeared this past weekend, no reason given nor granted. I have the WU if it's needed. Thanks |

once a WU is completed by both Wingmen it will dropp off the list within 24 hours. Perhaps this is all that happened In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

It must have been granted late Friday then erased but I have a nagging doubt I'm missing 1 WU. I wish all previous WU's could be verified and not disappear after 24 hours. Thks anyway. |

I currently have 5 WUs, beginning on November 10th, still waiting for validation. Any news on when these are credited? |

Whenever your current or any future wingmen complete them. |

I currently have 5 WUs, beginning on November 10th, still waiting for validation. Any news on when these are credited? All workunits require two nearly identical results in order to be validated and credited. Since two are required, the same workunit is sent out to two different accounts initially. If only one comes back, it says it is "pending" while it waits for the quorum partner (some people call it your "wingman"). Since all computers are of indeterminate reliability, and since not all people crunch 24/7, it is possible that they will return theirs very close to the deadline. Or if it passes the deadline, the workunit will be sent out to someone else instead and the process could repeat itself if they do not return the workunit immediately or before a new deadline. It isn't unheard of to have workunits remain in "pending" for up to 6 months, though it is a rarity these days. It is also possible that your result and your quorum partner's result don't match up closely enough, requiring a third workunit or more to be sent out as a "tie breaker". |
