The change from classic SETI@home to BOINC is welcome, BOINC has some very nice features. But in my humble opinion, following things need some work:

New BOINC GUI has a unique feature that it displays graphics only on demand, it is good. However we need the UI little more customizable and controllable...

* First and foremost change to be done I think is with blinking of system tray icon with exclamation mark [!]. I noticed that -min parameter works with BIONC as with classic SETI@home client. But even if I've started it with -min, the system tray icon shows blinking [!]. This is abit annoying, since it does it even for simple messages like "Resuming computation and...", which is not required at all. It should blink ONLY AND ONLY WHEN urgent user attention is required.

* Second problem (that at least I have) is with connecting. I have a dial-up connection (Win98 SE, IE5.0), and BOINC autodials even if I've selected Yes in "Confirm before connecting..." in preferences and turned off "Connect automatically" in my connection settings. This is not proper, at most of the times I have to keep it on "Disable network access" mode. It becomes worse when there is no scheduler response from server, it keeps on connecting every minute.

**** As I said, I would be great if UI is more customizable...
* If I want to cancel benchmarks and continue processing
* Great if can download work on demand
* Manual 'Retry' command on "Differing communication with project" mode
* Show info like no. of completed work units, total computer time, etc. in the main window
* Keep on processing next work unit while result is being uploaded (very useful when I am not able to connect at a particular time, because of constraints like less dial-up charges at night ;-)
* A nice SETI@home logo... :-)
