Hello,

I recently upgraded my GTX 260 core 216 to a new GTX 295 CO OP graphics card for SETI. It's been 2 days now and my RAC has not changed! Any ideas? I disabled SLI and the card is doing workunits at a fairly good pace, but my rank is not changing! Any help would be great! FYI my pending credit is 32k.

All the best,
Aaron Lephart

Your computers are hidden so can't see the workunits, but my guess is that they
are pending your wingman completing the same WU's.

I assume that it is crunching on both cores of the 295? If so, I second FiveHamlet.

You use Raistmer's latest V11 CUDA app with VLAR kill ?

If not (you use the stock app), maybe you crunch current only VLAR's ?

[ EDIT: It would help if you would not hide your PCs..
(SETI@home preferences) ]

BTW.
You use the opt. crew installer for the installation of the opt. apps?
Is there the stock or the CUDA app of Raistmer includes?

And don't rely on RAC to check progress. It's a lagging indicator, crude, and reliant on too many variables outside your control (such as validation against wingmates). Follow, and post reports of, the actual WUs that you process, and the time they take.

Updated to show computers!

I am using the stock app. I know about computers, but wow, the optimised app instructions are intimidating!

It does look intimidating :)
You could try the Lunatics unified installer.

Follow the windows thread.

@ GTP

Take the (Win..) 32 bit [X2 Dual Core 6000+] and the (Win..) 64 bit [AMD model unknown]* Lunatics' Unified Installer FINAL BETA.

[* which AMD CPU is this? ;-)]

http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;catd=9

I guess both CPUs support SSE3.. then you can take/choose for Enhanced and Astropulse the SSE3 app.

Mine are ok, But considering where I started at with computers(1980), this is mostly 2nd nature to Me, I guess I'm becoming an old pro now. ;)

I myself had managed to do opti before the unified came along.

I tried the unified, and found that it was really easy.

Go for it.

Per the instructions:

2) Copy all files in the "Files to install" directory to your BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder.

Where is that DIR? I dom't see it under C:\program files\BOINC

All I see is a "locale" DIR

All the best,

If you are running Vista O/S then look for
C:\ProgramData\Boinc\Projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu

Hope this helps

As you are not using vista, look at the Messages tab of BOINC manager after a restart of the client. The listed data directory is probably hidden by windows.

Make sure to:

Set PhysX GPU acceleration to DISABLED

and

Select the multi-GPU configuration to Do Not use multi-GPU mode

The will then allow BOINC to run TWO CUDA apps at the same time in the WU list along with one WU per CPU core. My one machine does 10 WUs at a time this way.

It's NOT necessary to disable PhysX. It IS necessary to disable multi-GPU mode and to extend the desktop onto the second monitor.

To now I disabled all the time PhysX after every update of the nVIDIA driver.

But.. someone made a test or know, if PhysX would have impact [+/-] to the CUDA performance?

No + or -. Whether or not PhysX is enabled has no effect on crunching. I have been running for months without PhysX disabled - just multi-GPU mode disabled.

I have PhysX enabled here and Multi gpu disabled and have done so with 6.6.36 and now with 6.6.37, Plus I don't have the desktop extended to anywhere, Although I do have the Desktop cloned to My TV on the second DVI port of My GTX 295, Even If the last few drivers won't do more than 720p while cloning(Sometimes I get 1080p anyway and the 57" TV complains of an invalid signal), In other modes I get 1080p on the TV and the TV doesn't complain at all, Something is amiss in the driver I think, It's the only thing that makes sense as the 178 drivers supported 1080p while cloning and the TV clearly supports 1080p, sigh. My current driver is the WHQL 186.18 for XP x64, Windows 7 will be interesting in late October, So It's going to be a long summer indeed.

Oh and My PC crunches on without any trouble.
