is'nt the current upload/download server set to allow you to download or upload 2 workunits at a time .. would setting it to 1 at a time help a little and there is no need to download or upload at 200+kbps when it would get there at 10kbps ( numbers are just out of my head ) so traffic shaping or setting a upload/download speed limit would ease the burden...

That is not a server setting. It is a setting in the client that can be changed with cc_config.xml. I changed my clients to 1 a long time ago.

Well I'm very happy to report that BOINC (6.6.36, 32-bit Windows) and Lunatics' optimized Seti-at-Home (2 CPUs + 1x GPU) ran flawlessly all weekend (11 & 12 July), and so far today also. No network hiccups at all for me (10 miles from Berzerkely), and only a few times when no work was available (even so my 0.25 day cache never ran dry). Cheers!

Well, after two days of very smooth running - Cricket has spiked to 93.9 Mbits, and new 'tapes' have appeared on the Server Status page - four splitters are running.

And uploads are borked again.....

Matt: While the Arecibo recorder is still off-line (any news on that?), and you're having to drag all these tapes out of archival storage - is there any point in splitting them at full tilt? If you only ran one AP splitter at a time while working through the archive, (a) the archive would last longer, and (b) the bandwidth hit would be lower.

Does the MB and AP data come from the same tapes? In other words, Do you load a tape once and produce MP and AP work units from it? Does that fix the ratio of MB to AP, unless you want to load tapes more than once?

So, when oh when are our Macs going to get the Cuda access so that we can start crunching faster? I've got two Intel Macs rarin' to go and so do a lot of the rest of us from the looks of your stats. Since we don't have Snow Leopard yet, there's no way yet to access the GPU for Boinc. Got a time frame in mind?

For BOINC to recognize the CUDA card, there needs to be 64-bit CUDA drivers/libraries for Mac. 32-bit won't do, even though the CPU can run 32-bit code.

There are no such drivers yet. You're welcome to ask nVidia if they have a timeframe in mind.

Once that exists, someone still has to port and test SETI CUDA app on Mac...
