OK, I am not very computer literate, so please speak slowly! :) I have a couple of NVidia cards, and would prefer to run SETI using just those...I believe that is running the CUDA version, right? How can I set up my computer to do this? And not to run SETI using just the CPUs? Small words if able please :) Thanks! They never fail who die in a great cause. |

OK, I am not very computer literate, so please speak slowly! :) Yes, CUDA is the graphics card version. At present you have results returned which are a mix of CPU and GPU (CUDA). If you check your preferences page you will see there are options to choose CPU or GPU (graphics card) processing (I'm guessing at present both options are ticked?). Your machines list show 2 machines and only one with one graphics card installed "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (767MB) driver: 18048". Do you have others installed which are not showing up? Not all Nvidia GPUS are CUDA capable. [Edit : P.S. Out of curiosity, why do you only want to use the GPU for processing - seems a shame to have your quad cpu not taking part?] GPU Users Group |

If you look at your PC's you'll see that you only have a Geforce 8800 onboard on 1 of your PC's. It looks like you'll need to update the drivers for that card before you do anything. If your other PC has an Nvidia card it doesnt appear to be a CUDA card or it would have been listed. If you are only wanting to run on your GPU and you've updated your Drivers then go to the top of this page click on "ACCOUNT" then look down to "seti@home preferences" click the link and then when your preferences page opens click on "edit preferences". Heres the easy part. Make sure that the only box checked is "Use GPU if available" click "update" and your preferences are updated. Then just update seti on your BOINC manager and you should be done.[/url] In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Actually the one machine is a lowly laptop. The other has a pair of Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX cards. This used to run CUDA...one task at a time, but very fast. My RAC was higher doing this than leaving both the CPU and GPU boxes checked. I don't know why this would be, but it is how things fell out. I very much appreciate the quick, detailed and simplified responses!! Thanks so much!! They never fail who die in a great cause. |

now you should be able to run 2 WU's on your GPU's if you disable the SLI on your PC In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Cool...now running 6 tasks at once. We'll see how that goes! :) Thanks again for all the help. They never fail who die in a great cause. |
