Oh that is not good!Yet another reason for trying to get power cables hidden and insulated underground, unfortunately California does not make a great place for underground installations. After such a huge investement by Berkeley I hope the planners take notice.

Because the dishes aren't a lizard or a pupfish they can and likely will string the lines right over the dishes. Now if the dishes were being used for spacecraft communications that would be a different matter and they couldn't come close.

There is a very nasty argument going on in the comments section of that article
some people are getting very hot under-the-collar good read though and a lot of misconceptions.

Welcome to California Politics. The north south split is as nasty as anything. Say the words "peripheral canal" and expect to get shot. Any wonder why we can't get a budget? TANC and MWD are just the same thing all over again. Use of resources from one half of the state by the other half of the state.

Sounds allot like the Politics of envy but in which direction I will refrain from saying but I will say this I do have some sympathy with the people protesting about the overhead power lines it's a pity that California is so seismically active or they could be buried underground.Hope that the budget problems are solved soonish!

Yes, 41% unemployment rate in Mendota because of the Delta Smelt.
I just hope it isn't causing Uli any problems.

I don't know where most live, But California politics can get somewhat heated at times, In this case the array would just like the new power lines to be placed at least 10 miles away from their location from what I've read, They didn't say where of course. Yeah they do have a lot of comments, Question is how many of those are really from California?
