Has anyone tried the Boinc 4.12 Alpha_Test yet and does it fix the failed upload of results?

Boinc 4.12 is available here:

I've downloaded the Windows version and it runs Ok under XP SP1. Haven't had time yet to see if it uploads OK.

Benchmarks are much the same as 4.09

The upload seems to work fine on XP SP2.
I've just uploaded an unit that failed with the 4.09 client before.

Well done folks!

Minor note:

> All that we see or seen is but a dream within a dream.

The quote excerpt from 'Edgar Allan Poe' is:
"all that we see or seeM, is but a dream within a dream..."

(Meaning all that we observe or what we /think/ we see...)

Good luck with 4.12. I'll be compiling it soon (or the next (;-))

Martin

I just installed BOINC 4.12 alpha and uploaded 2 WUs without any problems...

Using Windows XP Pro sp2 on a P4 3.0 GHz(HT).

I just had two Mar 14 work units near completion. The first one failed up upload (BOINC 4.09) as have many in the past few days. I then upgraded to BOINC 4.12 and the next work unit uploaded with no problem. Hooray! (P4 3.0 H/T Win XP Home SP2) Note that upgrading BOINC does not affect partially completed WUs -- they just resume computation.

Hi All,
I am keeping my fingers crossed that 4.12 has corrected all the upload problems. I sucessfully uploaded 27 WU's from the"Bad Date Group" after upgrading to 4.12
It might be coiencedence but after upgradeing to 4.12 it shave 41 minutes off of completed WU's.

Happy Crunching,

Have A Great Day And A Better Tomorrow!

I have been running seti 4.09 on all my computers up until today.
Only one of my computers uses XP pro and the others are on win98se.
I tried installing seti 4.12 on two of the win98se machines and they both locked up, Then I tried installing 4.12 on the XP pro machine and it also locked up.

I am mystified at the lock up problem as all of the replies to this thread have been so positive.

I even tried downloading a new copy of 4.12 thinking I got a bad download, but got the same lock up with the new 4.12 download.

The lockups seem to ocurr just as the cpu benchmark procedure is finishing.

Sorry to be a party pooper.

Hi all fellow crunchers...
I have just downloaded 4.12 which is running great so far.
Of course my OS is Linux Fedora Core 1, and all along the
linux clients have been trouble free, just wish we had
some damn eye candy ;)

but I want to say sincerely, I hope 4.12 has resolved a
lot of issuses for everyone running windows...

Happy crunching!!!!

Regards,

Joe

Stop Boinc check Windows Task manager and stop any Boinc App that are still running, then install Boinc, that may fix your lockup.
Boinc has to be stop before the new one is installed over top.

Anyone know where you can get the source for this boinc client. The latest public sources still appear to be 4.11?

Just upgraded one of my linux boxes that was running boinc 4.11 that just started to fail again. I'll see how it goes.

Ned
