Can someone please tell me why Completed, waiting for validation takes such a long time? I have 14 waiting for validation on one of my computers.

A somewhat more basic answer. In order to make certain that the science was done correctly, each task is sent to 2 computers belonging to different users. When these are returned and if the results match, both users get credit. If they do not match, another task is sent out to a computer belonging to a third user. If the results then match, then 2 or more of the users get credit.

In other words, you have to wait for the other guy (or gal), and their machine may be slower, or have a larger queue, or be attached to more projects than yours is.
