Being new to the Linux environment I was wondering if this optimized app will work with Ubuntu 9.04

Linux 64 bit AK v8.0 SSE3 (AMD/INTEL)

Please let me know if it will work or where I can find out how to get it running. Trying very hard to get away from those msoft people.

It probably will. That is if you use the Ubuntu 64 bit version and your processor supports SSE3.

yes I am using the 64 bit version, and thanks for the help. I will work on it this weekend when I have plenty of time. I am using an AMD quad core processor not overclocked but ready to get the most out of all 4 cores.

yes the optimized app will work. It works on the most common Linux versions including Ubuntu, mandriva etc. Do not use BOINC 6.6.36 it borks when starting. stick with the 6.4.5
