Hi there,
I think I have one more step to get the GPU crunching.
Something with the app_info file I believe. But not sure, as the boinc versions get more recent more is automatically included in that version. Any who... is this a 2.2 issue or something? Thanks

Looks to me like you are good to go. Just need a little more patience until your request hits the server at the right moment.

From the portion of the log that you posted, I would be surprised if your app_info file did not already contain a section for setiathome_enhanced <version_num>608</version_num>.

Use the Lunatics Unified Installer to set up your preferred applications. It'll add the correct application data to the app_info.xml file.

This Computer must have had Boinc installed before, as it's got a Created date of 26 Feb 2006 1:11:17 UTC,
and when it had the (very old) optimised app installed in 2007, the Cuda app didn't even exist, so that's why there's no reference to Cuda in the app_info.

Get the Unified Installer from Lunatics, the apps in it are a lot faster than the one your running.

Thank you both.
I suppose I just do the install and the unified installer will put the right files in the right folders I hope.

Thanks, Did the Unified Installer, it seems to have installed.
I checked all 3 boxes, 2 for the cpu and the one for the gpu...but so far only getting cpu work....no Gpu.

Ok you just need to be patient now. Since you are using Boinc 6.6.36 if you watch the messages when it requests work you will see seperate requests for the CPU and GPU. Just need to be patient now.

WhooHoo....did a reboot and bingo... 2 cuda wu.
The process of percentage of work done on the Gpu is screaming past the Cpu percentage.
Ok thanks, cross my fingers for no errors on completetion.

I've got a similar problem here, I see it requesting GPU work but never getting any. I've been waiting two weeks. Never any GPU work coming in. What could be wrong?
I've got the enhanced version from lunatics so the processes are AK_V8...
There are 16 cpu processes running and no GPU although it does see a CUDA device and does request GPU units from time to time.
I've rebooted several times too.
This is the machine (now has 36GB ram - not 2GB)

Just like the rest of the suggestions in this thread, the same questions apply to you:

Since you are using an optimized app, do you also have an optimized app for your CUDA card, and is it properly listed in your app_info.xml file? The 'standard' optimized application executables cannot run on the GPU, so you need a specialized application that can. If you do not have one, you will not be able to utilize your GPU until you do.

Thanks, although I've been running Seti for over ten years this is my first time on a video card.
I guess I'll have to look for an optimized app for my video card and a way to add it to my app_info file.

The easiest way to add an optimized CUDA app to your system and app_info.xml file is to use the Unified Installer mentioned earlier in the thread. You simply select the appropriate options in the installer and the installer will make all the modifications for you.

Sorry to pick nits, again, OzzFan, but there is not yet a true "Optimised" App for CUDA. There is a "hacked" one that slightly shortens the loading time from the CPU to the GPU, and there is the "VLAR-killer" (that I won't run) but the working code is basically Stock CUDA. Of course, you still need the reference to whichever .exe you are using for CUDA in the app_info file.

True the app doesnt shorten the WU's processing times but the lunatics app does a few things that prevent the GPU from bogging down that you'd not get from the stock GPU app running

Basically what I checked was my new app_info file and it does now have CUDA information in it. Now I'm just waiting for the many WU that are finished to upload and maybe I'll eventually get some CUDA units downloaded...

One can only hope.
