I'm a member of SETI@home.

Then I joined SETI@home Beta Test also.

I let run only one PC for SETI@home and SETI@home Beta Test.
The other PC only for SETI@home.

I had different computing preferences for SETI@home and SETI@home Beta Test.

This morning I saw that the SETI@home computing preferences were deleted and overwritten from the SETI@home Beta Test computing preferences.

Why?

The PC which run only SETI@home get the SETI@home Beta Test computing preferences. (message in BOINC)

Why?

How I need to do it?

I would like to do with one PC both* projects. [* from time to time, primary SETI@home]
With the other PC only SETI@home.

Now the computing preferences come from SETI@home Beta Test? For both PCs?
So I need to set it everytime there?
And every 24 hours it will update the SETI@home computing preferences?

Only the computing preferences?
Maybe also the resource share?

How I can set the resource share?

The SETI@home PC is at 'home'.
The PC which do both projects is at 'work'.

Thanks a lot! :-)

Why?

If you didn't set up different venues, you're using the default preferences. These are global preferences, meaning that you can set them on one project and then all projects you're attached to will use those preferences.

So you can leave Seti at default (---) preferences and set up the Home venue for Seti Beta, switch the computer there to use that venue. Then they'll use different preferences.

Hmm..

Only for my correct understanding.

I had only one project, SETI@home.
Computing preferences for primary (default), home and work.

Then I made a new account at SETI@home Beta Test.
Computing preferences for primary (default).

Only one PC attached to SETI@home Beta Test.

After one/two days the SETI@home preferences [home and work] were deleted and the primary was overwritten with the SETI@home Beta Test primary preferences.

And the PC which is only attached to SETI@home/home have a message in BOINC like 'SETI@home Beta Test preferences' at start.

The PC which was at both projects was at SETI@home/work and SETI@home Beta Test/primary locations.

Now I set the same computing preferences for SETI@home and SETI@home Beta Test. [primary, home and work]

The SETI@home PC is at home, like all the time.
And the SETI@home/SETI@home Beta Test PC is at both project at work.

Now.. after ~ 24 hours.. which settings will be overwritten again?
Only the SETI@home/primary from the SETI@home Beta Test/primary settings?

The settings of work and home will not be overwritten?

The resource share (project preferences) will only be used if more projects at one PC, or?
If only one project at the PC, 100 % project support?

And the project preferences will not be overwritten like the computing preferences? (primary)

Sutaru, did you use the same email address when you set up the new account at Seti Beta? If you did then it may have recognized the new computer as belonging to you and changed the user account key to match your other computers account.

Now.. after ~ 24 hours.. which settings will be overwritten again?
Only the SETI@home/primary from the SETI@home Beta Test/primary settings?

The preferences that got changed last will be distributed to all other projects.

The settings of work and home will not be overwritten?

The newest one will win.

The resource share (project preferences) will only be used if more projects at one PC, or?
If only one project at the PC, 100 % project support?

Yes and yes.

And the project preferences will not be overwritten like the computing preferences? (primary)

Of course not, they are project specific.

Gruß,
Gundolf

Thanks to all!

Yes, I used the same EMail address for both projects.

This PC is for both projects.

Hmm.. why he use SETI@home Beta Test default project prefs? This mean the computing prefs, right? Although the PC is at 'work'?

It need some time that all the data are synchronized of/at the projects?

"Default computer location" is a project preference, so you have to set it at every project (if you don't want to use "default").

Yes.
