OK I messed up the MB portion of the app_info and had to reinstall it. Now I have that done. So I restart BOINC and it tells me I don't have a setienhanced file in my app_info. I check again and its there. Here's the really strange part. I put in the correct version of the MB which is the 5.15... and as soon as BOINC starts it gets deleted. THe astropulse app is not affected. I'm at a loss as to what is causing this behavior. I'm sure it's something simple. And that's usually beyond me.

Mandriva Linux with an AMD xp 3000+ cpu. SSE of course.

5.28 or even 6.03 should be the right version.

Been running boinc 6.6.20 with no problems at all. I don't know if/when I'll upgrade.

I wasn't clear. I was tallking about the opt. ap. from lunatics. when I drop it into the S@h folder and start boinc the app is deleted. the boinc complains that I don't have MB app in my app_info, which I do.

That's what I'm also talking about. The version in app_info.xml should be 5.28 or maybe 6.03, not 5.15.

OK I'll say it one more time. The SSE opt app says 5.15 the actually WU version for the opt app is 5.28. I assume i could add 6.03 without doing any harm. however as I've stated the optimized app is version 5.15 and it gets deleted everytime I start boinc. funny thing that. I can get boinc started but boinc manager just sits there. YOu'll note that I've never asked for help with the seti WU version. I'm talking about the optimized app disappearing. I don't want to talk about the seti enhanced version anymore.

Probably we don't understand each other. Can you post your app_info.xml?

BOINC will automatically remove any executables from the directory if they are not referenced in the app_info.xml file. Most often issues like yours involve a misspelling or something simple like forgetting the file extention.

OK some relief
dumped everything and went with the install of 6.4.7 . installed the optimized apps and it works fine. How freaking frustrating yet educational

/EDIT I editted the app_info to allow seti enhanced 6.03 to run on the SSE opt app seems to be running fine. I'll check in the morning to see if any errors pop up. the SSE opt_app was made long before the 6.03 but appears to be handling it well
